Managing Director, Fundamental Underwriters - Remote US

Role Summary

This position serves as the Managing Director responsible for creating and managing a new construction specialty line division, focusing on the development and implementation of new commercial General Liability, Auto, and Excess lines of business. Key responsibilities include refining a business case, executing the approved business plan, and driving growth and profitability across short, medium, and long-term horizons. The role involves system implementation, setting underwriting appetite, marketing, and establishing the division's strategic goals. It requires maintaining strong professional relationships with customers, employees, and within the enterprise to meet financial and strategic objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Lead new operations development, including business case creation and cross-departmental liaison.
  2. Design, build, and implement new opportunities.
  3. Define the division's long-term mission and vision.
  4. Develop and execute strategic, operational, and financial plans aligned with long-term goals and corporate diversification strategies.
  5. Secure approval from executive and board levels and implement the business plan.
  6. Achieve market penetration targets and oversee division formulation and growth.
  7. Build and lead a high-performing team, establishing an organizational structure that supports strategic objectives.
  8. Ensure operational efficiency and quality service, fostering a productive work environment.
Supervision and Leadership

Directly supervise professional and technical staff across locations, involved in hiring, training, performance appraisal, and employee development, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal standards.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in insurance, business, or related field; MBA and advanced certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years relevant experience, including five years in leadership roles with profit and growth responsibilities; entrepreneurial experience is a plus.

Compensation

Estimated range: $191,300 to $320,300, dependent on location, experience, and other factors.
