Teneo's San Francisco office is assembling a senior Strategy & Communications leadership team to guide client work, grow the office, and shape the Bay Area reputation. You will own a portfolio of relationships with founders, executives, and boards, and lead integrated programs across earned, owned, and digital channels.

The Managing Director will drive business development, recruit talent, and collaborate with colleagues across segments while exploring AI-enabled ways of working to deliver

Qualifications

• 15+ years in corporate comms/PR/media
• Proven teams/building/transformations
• Senior in-house tech comms preferred; agency/advisory also OK
• Led large, complex client engagements
• Counsel to executives/boards; work with finance and legal
• Strong knowledge of tech ecosystem and startups
• Comms as a driver of business outcomes
• Curiosity about AI and hands-on AI use
• Comfort with ambiguity and building new initiatives
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
• Able to work from SF office 3+ days/week
• Experience in tech, media, or fintech startups

Responsibilities

• Lead SF Strategy & Communications team; set direction; talent development; senior oversight; recruitment
• Advise founders/CEOs; build long-term client relationships
• Drive business development; originate new client relationships
• Support transitions (fundraising, IPO readiness, leadership changes, M&A, regulatory issues, crises, business model shifts)
• Develop and lead integrated programs across earned/owned/social channels, events, podcasts, newsletters, video
• Advise on evolving comms function: structure, capabilities, operating model, AI tools
• Build Teneo's Bay Area presence through thought leadership and events
• Collaborate across segments to deliver integrated solutions
• Experiment with AI-enabled ways of working with firm-wide AI efforts
• Make complex decisions; foster quality and client satisfaction
