Job description

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI‑powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting‑edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.

About The Team

Advanced Infrared Solutions (AIRS), formerly American Infrared Solutions, was acquired by Anduril Industries in 2025 and now operates as part of the Imaging Business Line. For more than 10 years, AIRS has designed and built world‑class, high‑performance cooled infrared cameras and subsystems, including critical components such as Integrated Dewar Cooler Assemblies (IDCAs). From its site in Hudson, NH, AIRS is expanding to supply these critical components both internally, to Anduril’s Imaging products, and externally, to serve as a merchant supplier to the broader defense, space, and commercial industrial base. Growing the external merchant supplier business alongside internal production is a core strategic priority for the Business Line.

About The Job

As Managing Director, Advanced Infrared Solutions, you are the site lead for our Hudson location and the single owner of AIRS execution end‑to‑end — not just production, but the entire business. You will report to the Imaging Business Line General Manager and partner with the Imaging leadership team and teams across Anduril corporate (finance, recruiting, security, etc.) to run the strategy, operations, and financial performance of AIRS.

Most importantly, you own driving revenue, expanding the external merchant supplier business, and delivering units on time to meet customer commitments, both internal and external. Your work will vary from quick‑turn operational fire‑fighting, to building and redesigning processes, to leading high‑impact strategic initiatives and scaling manufacturing. This role puts you in command of every part of the AIRS business — program management, engineering, production, growth, and corporate functions — while working closely with and supporting the Imaging GM to drive toward business success.

What You’ll Do
  • Own AIRS revenue (primary accountability): Carry the AIRS revenue target and P&L, ensuring units are delivered on time. Develop the external merchant‑supply strategy and build a robust business development and growth pipeline process in collaboration with the AIRS Director of Business Development. Set commercial pricing strategy, expand existing accounts, and pursue new customers and markets across defense, space, and other commercial — treating external growth as a core success metric.
  • Define the IDCA product roadmap: Identify market and customer needs and shape the forward product strategy
  • Direct internal R&D strategy: Prioritize and fund R&D investments that differentiate AIRS's cooled IR and IDCA products and align development with where the market is heading.
  • Serve as the senior on‑site leader accountable for safe, high‑quality, on‑time delivery of IDCAs and cooled IR products. Execute against production output, throughput, and quality and delivery standards that are set and directed at the Division level, under the direction of the Imaging Head and Deputy Head of Production, while providing on‑the‑ground inputs to help shape those targets.
  • Scale manufacturing capacity to grow external output in line with Business Line and Divisional mandates, and own supply chain resilience for critical materials
  • Drive strategy and oversight of day‑to‑day business operations for AIRS, executing against the mandates and goals set and directed by the Division and FP&A — executing to those mandates while providing inputs to help shape them, tracking financial health of the budget against goals, driving actions to keep operating expenses within budget, and assessing financial data to build strategies that drive toward the Division’s margin targets
    • Managing the financial performance of AIRS against the budget, margin, and financial targets set and directed by the Division and FP&A — executing to those mandates while providing inputs to help shape them, tracking financial health of the budget against goals, driving actions to keep operating expenses within budget, and assessing financial data to build strategies that drive toward the Division’s margin targets
    • Providing inputs for Monthly Business Reviews and Quarterly Business Reviews for presentation to Anduril executives
    • Building the annual plan for AIRS within the goals and mandates set by the Division as part of the corporate planning cycle, providing inputs to inform Divisional direction
  • Define the talent, headcount, and org‑design plan required to scale the business against growth targets, and set hiring priorities and strategies with recruiting to attract and retain the critical engineering, production, and commercial talent needed for rapid scaling.
  • Own the communications and narrative strategy for AIRS. Direct how AIRS is represented internally to the team and externally across Anduril and to customers — reinforcing the story of AIRS as a growing merchant supplier and driving alignment through forums such as All Hands.
  • Set facilities, security, and capital investment strategy. Plan future site footprint, secured spaces, and capital investments needed to expand production capacity and enable long‑term growth, sequencing infrastructure decisions against business and revenue objectives.
  • Own and execute special projects for the Mission Systems Division and Imaging General Manager. Examples could include supporting acquisition integrations, partnering with the Imaging Head of Production on strategies to reduce production variance costs, brainstorming on org development, and completing strategic assessments.
  • Build and lead the AIRS team. Attract, develop, and retain critical engineering, production, and commercial talent, and foster a high‑ownership performance culture at AIRS.
Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in an engineering major
  • 10+ years of working experience, including direct P&L or revenue ownership and experience leading cross‑functional teams; a technical foundation (2+ years in a technical engineering role) plus 2+ years in a consulting, operations, finance, product/program management, or general business role (you understand how a P&L works and can drive one)
  • Demonstrated ability to drive revenue and business growth — commercial, business development, or general management experience with accountability for results
  • Domain expertise in infrared and electro‑optical systems similar to Anduril’s Imaging products — e.g., cooled (and uncooled) infrared cameras, Integrated Dewar Cooler Assemblies (IDCAs), focal plane arrays and detectors, and long‑range EO/IR sensors used for detection, tracking, and targeting across air, land, maritime, and space domains. You understand the underlying technology well enough to guide product and R&D decisions and to engage credibly with both customers and engineers.
  • Proven customer‑facing commercial experience — interfacing directly with customers, closing deals, and executing on them, with ownership of bid/no‑bid strategy. You can assess which opportunities are worth pursuing (pricing, risk, capacity, and strategic fit) and understand what it takes to commit to and deliver on a customer requirement.
  • A strong communicator across a wide dynamic range — able to translate and articulate thoughts clearly and simply across working‑level engineers, finance partners, recruiters, cross‑functional leadership, and executives
  • Experience interfacing with leadership and executives — you understand how to cultivate trust, facilitate meetings for and engage with executives, and represent a business to senior stakeholders
  • Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to solve operational problems not only through a data‑driven lens but also in a people‑centric way, by building strong cross‑functional relationships across the company and within the hardware engineering organization
  • Combined ability to execute tactically and set strategy for complex, ambiguous, cross‑functional problems. You are comfortable rolling up your sleeves on operational tasks requiring high attention to detail and organization, but you can also zoom out to the 30,000‑foot level to create strategy that solves high‑level problems for the business line, division, and company
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience as a general manager, managing director, or site/operations leader with P&L responsibility
  • Experience scaling manufacturing or production operations in a defense or hardware environment
  • Familiarity with defense‑industry compliance (DFARS, ITAR/export control) and supply chain management
  • Experience with post‑acquisition integration or standing up and scaling a newly acquired business
