Job Description
The Managing Counsel, Claims role is an in-house position within the Law Department's Claims Matter Counseling (CMC) team, part of the broader Business Law & Compliance Property Liability practice group. Its mission is to protect the Company and support the Business by providing legal advice across the insurance spectrum to the Property Liability units, including Claims.
The CMC team primarily advises Claims Department frontline staff and leaders on non-litigation claim matters to mitigate risks of bad faith and extracontractual exposure, and to control outside counsel costs.
This role involves providing legal advice on complex coverage issues, attorney conditional demands, and other legal questions during claims handling that are not in litigation. It will collaborate closely with other teams within the Law Department to advise the Claims Organization and other business units.
The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of relevant experience in insurance defense or coverage, either in a law firm or in-house legal department. They should possess excellent communication, interpersonal skills, sound judgment, strong research and writing abilities, and an eagerness to be part of a dynamic company.
This role does not include supervisory duties.

Compensation ranges from $112,000 to $196,750 annually, based on experience and qualifications. Candidates will undergo a background check.
