Job description

Manager, Workers' Compensation Claims

HONOLULU HI

At ProService, we’ve been helping Hawaii employers navigate the complexity of running a business for 30 years — and workers’ compensation is one of the most consequential areas we touch. Our claims program directly shapes financial outcomes for the businesses we serve, and we’re looking for a leader who takes that seriously.

This is a full-ownership role. You’ll lead the claims team, build the operational systems that drive performance, and serve as a trusted advisor to clients navigating one of the most complex areas of employment law in Hawaii. You’ll have real authority to shape how the program runs — and real accountability for the results it delivers.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL
  • Lead end-to-end workers’ compensation claims operations — owning performance metrics, client outcomes, and team accountability across the full program.
  • Run a disciplined operating rhythm including daily huddles, weekly scorecard reviews, and monthly 1:1s so every team member has a clear view of how they’re performing against goals.
  • Coach and develop claims professionals through structured feedback, timely performance conversations, and targeted development plans — addressing underperformance directly while investing in top performers.
  • Leverage AI and data reporting tools to streamline claims workflows, identify performance gaps early, and build data-informed strategies that improve outcomes across the program.
  • Translate company and department priorities into a focused 30–90 day operating plan, tracking progress relentlessly and course-correcting quickly when results fall short.
  • Deliver monthly claims status reports for key accounts and weekly performance updates to the Executive team.
IS THIS ROLE RIGHT FOR YOU?

This is an operational leadership role where accountability and follow-through aren’t optional — they’re the job. You’ll be responsible for real outcomes: closure rates, average claim costs, time-to-resolution, and client satisfaction. When results aren’t where they need to be, you’re expected to move quickly. The work is both internally focused and client-facing, so you’ll regularly split attention between team development and external relationship management.

Worth knowing: this role requires working knowledge of Hawaii’s workers’ compensation system — or a demonstrated ability to get there fast. You’ll be expected to advise independently on claims strategy and client escalations within your first 90 days. This is best suited for someone who’s comfortable in client-facing situations and leading through ambiguity.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TEAM

We’re looking for someone with a legal or claims background — attorney-level training or equivalent experience with workers’ compensation systems is strongly preferred. Relevant Hawaii WC experience is a plus, but a strong learner with solid leadership fundamentals and a track record of ownership can get up to speed quickly. A JD is preferred; Hawaii Bar admission or eligibility is a plus.

You’re Probably a Fit If:
  • You run structured operating rhythms and use them. You’ve run consistent 1:1s, scorecard reviews, and performance check-ins — and your team performed better because of them, not despite them.
  • You coach people at every performance level. You’ve had direct conversations with underperformers and invested in high-potential team members — with specific outcomes you can point to for both.
  • You find inefficiencies and follow through on fixing them. You’ve identified a workflow problem, designed the fix, and seen it through to implementation — not just flagged it for someone else.
  • You stay steady in high-stakes client situations. You’ve navigated escalations that required both clear communication and sound judgment — and the relationship held.
  • You can manage outside counsel and advise internal stakeholders simultaneously. You’ve coordinated legal strategy while also keeping leadership informed and protecting organizational interests — without letting either side wait.
WORK LOCATION

Hawaii Kai, Oahu — Hybrid

This role is based out of our Hawaii Kai office. We offer a flexible hybrid schedule that gives you the structure of in-person collaboration with the flexibility of remote work.

In office: Tuesday – Thursday | Remote: Monday & Friday

COMPENSATION

The base compensation for this position is $135,000 – $160,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. At ProService, compensation is tied to performance. Strong results are recognized and rewarded, and there are clear paths to advance within the Claims leadership track and into broader operational leadership across the organization.
