Job summary

Denver Museum of Nature & Science is seeking a collaborative, inclusive leader to guide the Volunteer Engagement program and the staff who make it possible. You will build meaningful opportunities for volunteers, interns and work-study students while strengthening a welcoming, sustainable program that supports the Museum's mission and community.

The role reports to leadership, includes supervising 3 staff, and requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent, plus several years in volunteer

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in cultural spaces or education.
• 3 years' experience in volunteer coordination or related field.
• 3 years' supervisory experience of staff or volunteers.
• 1 year experience working in database/CRM/POS back end or equivalent programs.
• Occasional evening and weekends required.

Responsibilities

• Lead efforts to engage volunteers, interns and work-study students.
• Supervise volunteer engagement specialists with goal setting and teamwork.
• Evaluate the volunteer program and recommend adjustments for a positive experience.
• Maintain team morale and culture for high performance.
• Use the volunteer database for accurate reporting and planning.
• Support the Inclusion strategy museum-wide.

Job Class: Full Time
Hiring Range: $67,000-$70,000
Work Schedule: M-F, daytime, occasional weekends/evenings/holidays
Direct Reports: 3

Essential Duties

• Leads institutional efforts to engage volunteers, interns and work-study students.
• Effective supervision of volunteer engagement specialists including goal setting, modeling behavior, and working as a team.
• Leads and conducts periodic evaluations of volunteer program and makes recommendations for program adjustments to ensure a positive volunteer experience.
• Ensures the morale of the teams is maintained to keep the team functioning at a high level and ensures a positive and healthy team culture.
• Maintains and effectively uses the volunteer database to support accurate reporting, informed decisions, and volunteer engagement program planning.
• Actively embraces and champions the museum-wide Inclusion strategy.
