Job summary

KPMG LLP is seeking a Manager to join our State and Local Tax (SALT) practice. You will provide client facing service to multinational, United States headquartered companies with global indirect tax issues, including transaction analyses and supply chain reviews.

You will create responses to client proposals, prepare VAT training presentations, document business requirements for VAT and use tax processes, grow client relationships, and mentor new staff. Travel up to 30% may be required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years of recent experience in global indirect advisory projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting; CPA/other credentials required by hiring practice.
  • Strong technical awareness of global indirect tax issues and data drivers.
  • Experience with ERP or tax engines and proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio.
  • Self-motivated with ability to plan work, manage schedules, and travel ~30%.
  • Ability to develop and maintain client relationships and mentor staff.

Job description

KPMG is currently seeking a Manager to join our State and Local Tax (SALT) practice.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide excellent client facing service to multi-national, United States headquartered companies with global indirect tax issues, including conducting transaction analysis, supply chain reviews, assisting with business expansions, advising on mergers and acquisitions, and managing less complex global projects
  • Create responses to client proposal requests regarding global indirect taxes
  • Prepare Value Added Tax (VAT) training presentations aimed at external and internal audiences
  • Identify, document, and recommend client business requirements for implementing VAT/sales and use tax compliance processes and system improvements
  • Grow and manage new and existing client and internal relationships
  • Develop and mentor new staff
Qualifications:
  • Minimum five years of recent experience working on global indirect advisory projects, including experience of working on less complex global projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or a related field of study from an accredited college/university; Licensed CPA, EA, JD/LLM, MTX (Masters in Taxation), IIT VAT Compliance Diploma, CA, CTA, AITI, or Certified Member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (CMI), in addition to others on KPMG’s approved credential listing; any individual who does not possess at least one of the approved designations/credentials when their employment commences, has one year from their date of hire to obtain at least one of the approved designations/credentials; should you like to see the complete list of currently approved designations/credentials for the hiring practice/service line, your recruiter can provide you with that list
  • Strong technical awareness of global indirect tax issues, understanding of key indirect tax processes and data drivers
  • Experience of advising on, and/or implementing, systems projects whether ERP or tax engines and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, or process mapping software
  • Self-motivated, ability to generate and plan work effort and manage project schedules/priorities with clear written and verbal communications and ability to travel thirty percent of the time
  • Ability to develop and maintain existing internal and client relationships and help to build new relationships with key local office targets
