Job description

Manager – V-22 Flight Test Engineering IPT (M2)

At Bell, thinking above and beyond is what we do best. For more than 80 years, we’ve been reimagining the experience of flight – and where it can take us. We are pioneers. We were the first to break the sound barrier and designed the first functional jetpack. We were aboard NASA’s first lunar mission and brought advanced tiltrotor systems to market. Today, we are defining the future of on‑demand mobility. At Bell, we are proud to be the world’s leading manufacturer and integrator of tiltrotor aircraft, an iconic company with superb talent, rapidly creating novel and coveted vertical lift experiences.

Bell is seeking an experienced, multi-faceted IPT Manager to support the testing and development of product improvements for V‑22 tiltrotor aircraft (MV‑22s for USMC, CMV‑22s for USN, and CV‑22s for USAF SOCOM). You will lead a team with a variety of technical disciplines, embedded within the US military Customer environment. You will be working in an integrated team environment to support test operations within established flight test guidelines to achieve safe flight operations. As a leader within the larger V‑22 Flight Test team, you will demonstrate leadership skills while planning and executing multiple projects. This position is located at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Patuxent River, Maryland, although some team members and projects are also located at Hurlburt Field, Florida.

What you will be doing:
  • Support the flight test team for experimental V‑22 tiltrotor aircraft, requiring teamwork and collaborative problem solving in a multi‑team environment with direct Customer contact.
  • Demonstrate your understanding of aviation systems, flight technology, and other engineering related disciplines to provide optimal support to the V‑22 flight test team.
  • Lead and participate in technical learning, career mentoring, and skills development.
  • Execute the Control Account Manager (CAM) role within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) to include planning and monitoring cost & schedule execution, scope compliance, variance reporting, and reporting for both internal and external channels.
  • Apply military‑aligned Earned Value Management System (EVMS) tools and metrics.
  • Facilitate schedule risk assessments, cost performance monitoring, and manpower planning.
  • Identify and elevate potential Risks, Issues, or Opportunities.
  • Manage contract requirements, to include recognition of scope growth and/or baseline management.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with multiple departments (engineering, operations, finance, contracts, subcontract management, etc.).
  • Report to internal senior leadership as well as US Government Customers.
  • Host and coordinate technical meetings.
  • Review and understand all related procedures, processes, and best practices.
What You Need To Be Successful:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or a related technical discipline is required.
  • Must have proven technical leadership and personnel management skills with demonstrated skills in coaching, developing, and mentoring others.
  • Minimum 8 years of flight operations or flight test experience (helicopter, airplane, or vectored thrust aircraft).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearance.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and be able to interact well in a team environment.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize, organize, and track a variety of assignments.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communications skills and should be proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required in the Flight Test environment.
  • Must be able to travel 10% of the time, as needed, to support short term (up to two months) off‑site assignments at other locations.
Preferences:
  • Experience With V‑22 Tiltrotor Aircraft Is Preferred.
  • Experience with US military flight operations is preferred.
