Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a Development Manager to lead renewable energy projects in the US, focusing on solar, wind and energy storage. This role drives the full project lifecycle from greenfield to COD, coordinating internal teams and external consultants to maximize value and ensure timely delivery.

You will manage budgets, schedules, and stakeholder relationships while identifying optimal locations and leading competitive project strategies across ERCOT and other markets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM, business/economics, or related fields; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of work experience, 3 in renewable energy infrastructure; US project experience preferred.
• Excellent project management skills and the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and deliverables in complex projects.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% and work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop utility-scale Solar, Wind and Energy Storage projects from greenfield to COD.
• Serve as project lead, coordinating large cross-functional teams.
• Assess financial attractiveness and identify optimal project locations with commercial/technical teams.
• Lead greenfield campaigns and grow RWE's project pipeline.
• Manage full lifecycle including land control, permits, interconnection, engineering, and tax equity issues.
• Drive competitiveness using technical, commercial and financial levers.
• Conduct project acquisitions due diligence with M&A and internal teams.
• Prepare executive presentations and manage internal approvals.
• Develop budgets, objectives, schedules, and deliverables for assigned projects.
• Participate in internal improvement initiatives.

RWE Americas, LLC To start as soon as possible, full time, permanent Functional area: Project Development Remuneration: Exempt

The Utility-scale Development team at RWE Americas is responsible for initiating, developing, and acquiring utility-scale Solar, Wind and Energy Storage projects in the US and Canada. The South Development group focuses on ERCOT, SERC, MISO South and SPP South markets. The Development Manager will play a key role in delivering renewable energy projects in alignment with RWE's strategy in North America.

Role Responsibilities

• Develop utility-scale Solar, Wind and Energy Storage projects, from greenfielding to start of construction. Provide support during the construction phase to ensure successful COD
• Serve as project lead, managing large cross-functional project teams
• Understand the key drivers for project’s financial attractiveness and identify best locations in collaboration with RWE’s commercial and technical teams
• Lead greenfield campaign to add new projects to RWE’s pipeline
• Manage the full project lifecycle, working with a strong backbone of internal subject matter experts and external consultants. This includes site due diligence, securing land control agreements, environmental and permitting, interconnection, engineering & pre-construction, energy yield, tax abatements, power marketing, and tax equity financing
• Drive project competitiveness optimization, via technical, commercial and financial levers
• Lead the due diligence of project acquisitions, in collaboration with RWE’s M&A team
• Prepare management presentation and drive internal approval processes
• Develop and manage project budgets, objectives, schedules, and deliverables for assigned development projects
• Actively participate in internal improvement initiatives

Job Requirements and Experiences

• Bachelor's degree in STEM, business/economics, or relevant fields. Advanced degree is a plus
• Minimum 5 years of work experience, 3 applicable to renewable energy infrastructure. Experience in developing energy infrastructure projects in the US is preferred
• Excellent project management skills
• Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer relationships
• Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
• Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
• Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
• Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
• Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team
• Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem‑solving abilities
• Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
• Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
