The Manager in Training (MIT) position is a short-term transitional role that provides work assignments and training opportunities to prepare MITs for promotion into Retail/Commercial Store Management positions. Progression to management typically occurs within approximately 8-12 weeks, depending on prior experience and performance.

Responsibilities

An MIT is a member of the management team, expected to Live The Pledge, deliver WOW! Customer Service, and drive store performance. Under the supervision of the Store Manager, the MIT will lead a store team through strong leadership, initiative, and example.

The MIT supports the Store Manager in:

• Overall store management, supervision, and policy implementation
• Financial management, including analyzing and reconciling monthly P&L statements
• Employee staffing, training, and development
• Inventory management
• Customer service leadership

MITs are responsible for completing operations and management training, learning about key business aspects and AutoZone culture. Continued satisfactory performance and progression are required for consideration for management openings.

Note: Promotion to Store Manager/Commercial Sales Manager is not guaranteed and depends on performance and management openings.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of retail management or supervisory experience
• Ability to work full-time with flexible hours, including mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime
• Bilingual skills preferred but not required
• Previous automotive or financial analysis experience preferred but not required
