The Manager in Training (MIT) position is a short-term transitional role designed to provide work assignments and training opportunities, preparing MITs for promotion into Retail/Commercial Store Management positions. Entry into the AutoZone MIT program may lead to a management position within approximately 8-12 weeks, depending on prior experience and performance.

Responsibilities

An MIT is a member of the management team, expected to live the pledge, deliver WOW! customer service, and drive store performance. Under the supervision of the Store Manager, the MIT maintains an engaged, productive store team through strong leadership, initiative, and leading by example.

The MIT supports the Store Manager in the overall operation of the store, including:

• Overall store management, supervision, and policy implementation
• Financial management—manage, analyze, and reconcile monthly P&L statements
• Employee staffing, training, and development
• Inventory management
• Customer service leadership

MITs are responsible for completing operations and management skills training, learning about key aspects of the business and AutoZone culture. Satisfactory performance and consistent progression through the training program are required to remain in the pipeline and be considered for management openings.

Note: Promotion to Store Manager/Commercial Sales Manager is not guaranteed and depends on performance and available openings.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of retail management or supervisory experience
• Ability to work a full-time flexible schedule, including mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime
• Bilingual preferred but not required
• Previous automotive experience preferred but not required
• Experience analyzing financials, including Profit and Loss statements, preferred but not required
