Job Summary:
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for managing a small driver team and/or non-traditional shifts (including nights and weekends). The role involves ensuring safe and timely freight movement, load assignment, and delivering exceptional customer service. The employee will be trained to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and will oversee driver compliance and company policies, working with internal and external contacts to plan, route, monitor, and deliver freight effectively.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

1. Build and maintain positive relationships with drivers and outside carriers to facilitate carrier setup, reduce turnover, and enhance productivity.
2. Fill in for absent personnel and participate in projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability.
3. Train and orient drivers and employees, including assisting with internal and third-party systems.
4. Maximize fleet efficiency, recommend improvements, measure KPIs, and prepare customer reports and financial analyses.
5. Manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment and meet operational needs.
6. Perform administrative duties such as payroll, budget management, driver counseling, accident reviews, documentation, and invoicing.
7. Oversee yard operations, including equipment inspection, repairs, and coordination with maintenance.
8. Collaborate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service, routing, mechanical, and pay issues.
9. Maintain safety standards through driver safety messages, training, reviews, and policy enforcement to ensure DOT compliance.
10. Plan, assign loads, and monitor freight movement to ensure safety, timeliness, and customer satisfaction, adjusting for delays and environmental factors.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualification: High School Diploma/GED, up to 4 years of related experience, and/or currently enrolled in a degree program with up to 2 years of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with flexibility to work various shifts. Willingness to travel to various locations.

Preferred Qualification: Bachelor’s degree plus 1 year of related experience or equivalent.
