The Manager in Training (MIT) position is a short-term role providing work assignments and training to prepare MITs for promotion into Retail/Commercial Store Management. Progression to management typically occurs within 8-12 weeks, depending on experience and performance.

Responsibilities

As a management team member, an MIT is expected to live the pledge, deliver WOW! customer service, and drive store performance. Under the supervision of the Store Manager, the MIT will lead and maintain an engaged, productive team, demonstrating initiative and leading by example.

The MIT supports the Store Manager in:

• Overall store management, supervision, and policy implementation
• Financial management, including managing and analyzing P&L statements
• Employee staffing, training, and development
• Inventory management
• Customer service leadership

MITs also complete operational and management training, learning about key business aspects and AutoZone culture. Performance and progression through training are necessary to remain in the program and be considered for management roles.

Note: Promotion to Store Manager/Commercial Sales Manager is not guaranteed and depends on performance and openings.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of retail management or supervisory experience
• Ability to work full-time flexible hours, including mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime
• Bilingual skills are preferred but not required
• Automotive experience and financial analysis skills are preferred but not required
