The Manager in Training (MIT) position is a short-term transitional role that provides work assignments and training opportunities to prepare MITs for promotion into Retail/Commercial Store Management positions. Entry into the AutoZone MIT program may lead to a management position within approximately 8-12 weeks, depending on prior experience and performance.

Responsibilities

• Be a member of the management team, live The Pledge, deliver WOW! Customer Service, and drive store performance.
• Support the Store Manager in overall store operations, including management, supervision, and policy implementation.
• Manage financials, analyze and reconcile monthly P&L statements.
• Handle employee staffing, training, and development.
• Oversee inventory management and customer service leadership.

MITs are responsible for completing operations and management skills training, learning about key aspects of the business and AutoZone culture. Performance and progression through the training program are essential for continued consideration for management openings.

Note: Promotion to a Store Manager/Commercial Sales Manager is not guaranteed and depends on performance and management openings.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of retail management or supervisory experience.
• Ability to work full-time with flexible hours, including mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime.
• Bilingual skills are preferred but not required.
• Automotive experience and financial analysis experience are preferred but not required.
