The Manager in Training (MIT) position is a short-term transitional role that provides work assignments and training to prepare MITs for promotion into Retail/Commercial Store Management positions. Entry into the program may lead to a management position within approximately 8-12 weeks, depending on prior experience and performance.

Responsibilities

An MIT is part of the management team, expected to Live The Pledge, deliver WOW! Customer Service, and drive store performance. Under the supervision of the Store Manager, the MIT will lead a team through strong leadership, initiative, and example.

The MIT supports the Store Manager in:

• Overall store management, supervision, and policy enforcement
• Financial management, including managing, analyzing, and reconciling monthly P&L statements
• Employee staffing, training, and development
• Inventory management
• Customer service leadership

MITs are responsible for completing operational and management training, learning about the business and AutoZone culture. Performance and progression through training are necessary to remain in the pipeline and be considered for management roles.

Note: Promotion to Store Manager/Commercial Sales Manager is not guaranteed and depends on performance and management openings.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of retail management or supervisory experience
• Ability to work a flexible full-time schedule, including mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime
• Bilingual skills preferred but not required
• Automotive experience and financial analysis experience are preferred but not required
