The Manager in Training (MIT) position is a short-term transitional role designed to provide work assignments and training opportunities to prepare MITs for promotion into Retail/Commercial Store Management positions. Typically, progression to a management role can occur within approximately 8-12 weeks, depending on prior experience and performance.
As a member of the management team, an MIT is expected to live the pledge, deliver exceptional customer service, and drive store performance. Under the supervision of the Store Manager, the MIT will lead a store team through strong leadership, initiative, and example-setting. Key responsibilities include:
MITs are also responsible for completing operational and management training, learning about the business and AutoZone culture, and demonstrating consistent progress to remain in the program and be considered for promotion. Promotion depends on performance and management openings, and is not guaranteed.
