The Manager in Training (MIT) position is a short-term transitional role that provides work assignments and training to prepare MITs for promotion into Retail/Commercial Store Management positions. Entry into the program may lead to a management position within approximately 8-12 weeks, depending on prior experience and performance.

Responsibilities

An MIT is a management team member expected to Live The Pledge, deliver WOW! Customer Service, and drive store performance. Under supervision of the Store Manager, the MIT maintains an engaged, productive team through strong leadership and initiative.

The MIT supports the Store Manager in:

• Overall store management, supervision, and policy implementation
• Financial management, including managing and analyzing P&L statements
• Employee staffing, training, and development
• Inventory management
• Customer service leadership

MITs must complete operational and management training, learn about key business aspects and AutoZone culture, and demonstrate performance progression to remain in the program and be considered for management openings.

Note: Promotion to Store Manager/Commercial Sales Manager is not guaranteed and depends on performance and management openings.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of retail management or supervisory experience
• Ability to work full-time flexible hours, including mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime
• Bilingual preferred but not required
• Automotive experience and financial analysis experience preferred but not required
