The Manager in Training (MIT) position is a short-term transitional role providing work assignments and training to prepare MITs for promotion into Retail/Commercial Store Management. Progression to management typically occurs within 8-12 weeks based on experience and performance.

Responsibilities

As a management team member, an MIT will:

• Live The Pledge, deliver WOW! Customer Service, and drive store performance.
• Support the Store Manager in overall store operations, including:

• Retail/Commercial management, supervision, and policy enforcement.
• Financial management—analyzing and reconciling P&L statements.
• Employee staffing, training, and development.
• Inventory management.
• Customer service leadership.

MITs will complete operations and management training, learning about key business aspects and AutoZone culture. Performance must be satisfactory with ongoing progression to remain in the program and be considered for management roles.

Note: Promotion to Store Manager/Commercial Sales Manager is not guaranteed and depends on performance and openings.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of retail management or supervisory experience.
• Flexible full-time schedule, including mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime.
• Bilingual skills are preferred but not required.
• Automotive experience and financial analysis skills are preferred but not required.
