Role Summary

The Manager, Tower Operations oversees daily Common Use Management activities at SFO, ensuring safety, security, and performance standards are met per SFOTEC’s agreement with the airport. This role leads the Ramp Tower Controller Team and coordinates with airlines, airport authorities, and federal agencies to maintain seamless operations.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage Ramp Tower Controller Team, including scheduling, training and performance oversight.
  • Ensure Ramp Control Tower is staffed, operational, and compliant with safety/security protocols.
  • Maintain and update Airport Management System (AMS) and sub-systems.
  • Liaise with airlines, FAA, SFO, and other stakeholders on operational issues.
  • Respond to emergencies and irregular operations; prepare incident reports.
  • Oversee training, signoffs, and development of Ramp Tower Controller program.
  • Monitor and report on tower operations, equipment, and performance metrics.
  • Support continuous improvement of safety, compliance, and operational dashboards.
  • Represent SFOTEC leadership in meetings and during critical events.
  • Conduct audits and ensure service level compliance across performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Foster relationships with key partners including TSA, FAA, SFPD, DHS, and service contractors.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in airline/airport operations and team management.
  • 2+ years managing and allocating airport resources at a large hub airport.
  • Extensive hands-on knowledge of resource management systems including creating system rules for maximum use and optimization of resources in airport operational environment.
  • Strong understanding of the Airport operational environment, stakeholders, tenants, and policies and procedures.
  • Experience in managing staff in a 24/7 operational setting with ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must pass criminal background check and maintain airport security clearance.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Be available as needed on-call basis for any time-sensitive operational matters that may arise.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary: $70,000 – $90,000/yr
  • Supplemental Pay: up to 10% performance-based bonus.
