Manager Terminal Projects and Operations, NA
Permanent, Full-Time
Canada – Remote – BC, AB, MB, NB, QC

Salary: $110,000 - $145,000 depending on experience and education

We are seeking a Manager Terminal Projects and Operations, NA who will oversee and optimize Graymont’s North American bulk and bag distribution terminal network, including owned terminals and third-party transload locations. You will play a crucial role in ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective product movement while maintaining consistent quality and availability. In this role, you will help shape Graymont’s distribution network strategy, supporting business objectives and managing the entire lifecycle of terminal distribution processes.

Responsibilities:

  1. Operation Management:
    Manage day-to-day terminal operations, ensuring quality customer/carrier service, cost-efficient delivery, and inventory availability.
    Collaborate with Logistics, Operations, Marketing and Sales on business development to evaluate and optimize the terminal network, ensuring it evolves with market demands and transportation efficiency.
    Oversee capital projects and operational improvements, working closely with finance and project teams.
  2. Inventory and Supply Chain Management:
    Implement and manage inventory control strategies to ensure accurate stock levels and timely deliveries, minimizing risks to customer service.
    Process orders and bills of lading, coordinate railcar billing, and resolve delivery issues with the rail team.
    Negotiate and oversee third-party operating agreements, including property and track agreements, in collaboration with the Director of Logistics and Customer Service.
    Ensure cost-effective and compliant operations by managing vendor relationships and contracts.
  3. Financial and Budget Oversight:
    Develop and administer terminal operating budgets, providing monthly variance reports and necessary remediation plans.
    Create purchase orders and manage the Procure to Pay (P2P) process for accurate and timely procurement.
  4. Process Improvement and Reporting:
    Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor operational performance.
    Identify automation opportunities to enhance service, equipment utilization, and inventory accuracy.
    Conduct ad hoc analyses and present recommendations for cost optimization, network performance, and capital investments.
  5. Safety and Compliance:
    Lead safety and environmental efforts, ensuring compliance with all regulations and company policies at distribution terminals.
    Promote a culture of safety through leadership and example, adhering to all safety procedures.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: A bachelor’s degree is required, and an engineering degree will be an asset.
  2. Professional Experience: Minimum of least ten years’ experience in operations and logistics, specifically related to cement, lime, or dry bulk distribution. Experience working with railroads on new business development opportunities and track design.
  3. Relevant Experience: Strong project management skills are essential, along with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  4. Beneficial Knowledge: A solid understanding of lime, cement, and dry bulk distribution is important, as is familiarity with the processes involved in bulk material discharge, shipping, and distribution.
  5. Technology Requirement: Proficient in Microsoft applications, with preferred familiarity in automation solutions such as JDE (JD Edwards).
  6. Additional Asset: Experience in supply chain and operations is beneficial, and knowledge of network optimization is preferred.
  7. Travel Component: Ability to travel within North America, with an estimated travel requirement of approximately 30% of the time. This may include site visits, client meetings, and project oversight to ensure successful operations across various locations.

The hiring range for this role is $112,000 - $160,000, annually. Offered salaries will be based on a combination of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Note that base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at Graymont.
