Job summary

Selux-US is seeking a Manager, Technical Lighting Solutions to lead a technical team and support architectural lighting applications through photometric layouts, product expertise, and custom technical solutions. This role combines hands-on lighting knowledge with leadership across Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing to solve complex project challenges.

You will guide photometric calculations, use AGi32/AutoCAD/Revit, and collaborate with multiple teams to deliver optimized lighting solutions

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Lighting, Engineering, Architecture, Industrial Design, or a related discipline.
• Experience in architectural lighting design or lighting applications.
• Knowledge of photometry, LED systems, and lighting controls.
• Experience using AGi32 or similar software to create photometric calculations or layouts.
• Ability to read architectural/engineering drawings and product docs.
• Strong analytical and communication skills with ability to make technical recommendations.
• Understanding of custom product feasibility, cost estimating, and modifications.
• Experience leading or coordinating a team and managing competing priorities.
• Comfort evaluating costs and pricing for custom solutions.
• Willingness to work onsite in Highland, NY at least four days per week.

About the Role

Selux is seeking a Manager, Technical Lighting Solutions to lead our technical team and support architectural lighting applications through photometric layouts, product expertise, and custom technical solutions. This role combines hands-on lighting knowledge with team leadership and collaboration across Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing to help solve complex project challenges and meet customer needs. Full time position, Mon - Thurs 7:30 am - 5pm, Fri 7:30 am - 11:30 am. Excellent benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k match, paid holidays and time off.

Salary range: $85,000 - $105,000/yr.

Responsibilities

Lighting Design & Photometric Applications

• Develop photometric calculations and lighting layouts to support architectural lighting projects and product specifications.

• Provide lighting guidance to designers, specifiers, and sales representatives based on project requirements and product capabilities.

• Interpret photometric data, architectural drawings, product specifications, electrical options, controls, and installation requirements.

• Use tools such as AGi32, AutoCAD, and/or Revit to evaluate lighting performance and develop application solutions.

• Coordinate photometric testing and maintain documentation for existing products and new product development.

• Provide technical expertise to Marketing and review product materials for accuracy.

Technical Solutions & Product Modifications

• Evaluate custom product and configuration requests for technical feasibility, customer requirements, and practical alternatives.

• Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to develop solutions that consider product performance, production capabilities, and cost.

• Establish pricing for product modifications using cost information, comparable requests, and sound commercial judgment.

• Research complex product questions and communicate clear recommendations, assumptions, and limitations.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

• Supervise, coach, and develop technical team members while managing priorities, workload, and response quality.

• Coordinate with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Service, and Product Management to resolve issues and advance customer requests.

• Improve technical resources, procedures, and knowledge-sharing practices to promote consistency and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant lighting industry experience, ideally in architectural lighting design, lighting applications, technical product support, or a related field.

• Bachelor’s degree in Lighting, Engineering, Architecture, Industrial Design, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.

• Knowledge of architectural lighting, LED systems, photometry, lighting controls, and lighting product configurations.

• Experience developing photometric calculations or lighting layouts using AGi32 or similar software.

• Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings, technical specifications, and product documentation.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to evaluate alternatives and make sound technical recommendations.

• Understanding of custom products, manufacturing feasibility, cost estimating, or product modifications.

• Experience leading, mentoring, or coordinating the work of others and managing competing priorities.

• Sound commercial judgment and comfort evaluating costs and pricing for custom solutions.

• Ability to work onsite in Highland, NY at least four days per week.
