GPC in Atlanta, GA seeks a Manager, Technical Accounting for Global Industrial to lead complex accounting areas including global lease accounting, acquisitions, and restructuring. The role partners with subsidiaries, Real Estate, Treasury, and external auditors to ensure accurate reporting and strong controls.
You will interpret new GAAP guidance (ASC 606, FASB/IASB), support SOX compliance, and guide policy with cross-functional teams while driving strategic initiatives.
The Manager, Technical Accounting for Global Industrial, supervises complex and high-visibility accounting areas, including global lease accounting, restructuring, and accounting for significant transactions such as acquisitions and divestitures. The position partners closely with subsidiaries, Real Estate, Treasury, Finance leadership, SEC Reporting, Internal Audit, and external auditors to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with U.S. GAAP. This role plays a critical part in safeguarding accounting integrity while supporting strategic business initiatives.
Lead the global lease accounting function, overseeing monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes; review and approve lease accounting journal entries; monitor and enhance internal controls; proactively upscale and resolve matters with subsidiaries and leased equipment suppliers; and serve as the primary contact for auditor inquiries. Perform technical accounting research and develop formal position papers for complex or non-routine transactions. Evaluate derivatives, hedge accounting, and fair value measurement, including related disclosures. Participate in the development, enhancement, and governance of company-wide accounting policies (including revenue recognition under ASC 606). Interpret new accounting guidance from the FASB, IASB, SEC, and other regulatory bodies, assess financial statement impact, propose implementation solutions. Ensure technical accounting conclusions align with SOX controls and audit requirements.
Perform technical accounting requirements for material acquisitions, including valuation coordination, opening balance sheet preparation, and related documentation. Perform goodwill and long-lived asset impairment analyses, segmentation assessments, restructuring accounting, and other complex accounting areas.
Support quarterly and annual reporting processes as needed for technical matters. Serve as a key liaison with internal and external auditors on technical accounting issues.
Collaborate with Valuation, Treasury, Legal, and operational leaders to resolve accounting matters. Lead or support enterprise-wide finance initiatives and special projects. Provide training and guidance to Finance teams on new accounting standards and policy updates. Other responsibilities, as assigned.
