Eversource is seeking a senior leader to manage the Special Studies team within Transmission System Planning in the United States. The role focuses on scenario-based expansion, resiliency, and reliability services, guiding technical decisions and budgets.

The candidate will interact with ISO-NE and other stakeholders, bring deep engineering expertise, and drive strategic planning across multi-disciplinary teams to support reliable, cost-effective grid evolution.

Qualifications

BS in Engineering is required.
10 years in transmission system planning, engineering or related operations management experience, including supervisory experience.
Thorough knowledge and experience in electric transmission planning.
Experience with system analysis software and modeling.
Leadership in strategic planning.
Thorough knowledge of transmission power system protection and control systems.
PE license preferred.

Job description

Manage the Special Studies team within Eversource Transmission System Planning
Manage special studies for electric transmission system planning, including future grid scenarios, essential reliability services, public policy impacts and resiliency
Develop plans for scenario-based transmission system expansion, resiliency and reinforcement
Establish goals, monitor and report results, and manage budgets
Provide technical leadership, expertise and recommendations on complex engineering problems
Interact with ISO-NE working groups, NEPOOL/RTO committees and other internal and external stakeholders
Analyze project economics, ISO generation markets and pricing and their effects on Eversource's transmission business and customers
Lead regulatory filings, technical presentations, written comments and regulatory proceedings
Manage technical projects affecting transmission system design, engineering, construction and operation
Formulate technical positions and recommend company policies and standards
Establish and monitor system network capabilities, utilization and performance measures
Collaborate with departments and engineers on system project design
Develop and implement best practices for special study planning
Manage, supervise, select, coach and develop area staff
Analyze and recommend resource levels and establish operational and financial objectives

Requirements

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering required
Ten (10) years in transmission system planning, engineering or related operations management experience, including supervisory experience
Thorough knowledge and experience in electric transmission planning
Experience with system analysis computer applications and modeling
Experience in operations support, budgeting, project analysis, working cross-functionally and communicating
Demonstrated leadership in strategic planning
Thorough knowledge of transmission power system protection and control systems
Professional Engineer's License preferred
