Job description
Overview

The Vendor Management Director will administer the vendor governance program and ensure robust planning approaches, due diligence reviews, and ongoing monitoring processes as established in Saint Luke’s Vendor Management Program. By collaborating closely with department vendor relationship owners and internal partners, the Vendor Management Director will contribute to, and influence the direction of, evolving enterprise standards for vendor governance and third party risk management. The individual also helps enable and advance department objectives by ensuring an appropriate balance between meeting business needs, protecting Saint Luke’s Health System, and promoting high internal standards for both new and existing vendor relationships.

The Vendor Management Director will establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the Health System to ensure all aspects of the risk management framework are delivered according to policy and business strategy. This individual constitutes a key component within a team of skilled and engaged colleagues with a broad span of responsibilities, will actively interact with Senior Management and individuals from throughout the Health System, and participate in enterprise wide risk initiatives as necessary.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Maintain vendor monitoring plans and other centralized vendor documentation to facilitate analysis, cross-functional information sharing, and reporting across the inventory of third party relationships.
  • Drive results by ensuring planning, due diligence, and onboarding of new vendors, and ongoing monitoring and support of changes for existing vendors are completed timely and with high quality.
  • Support, consult with, train, and provide guidance to Vendor Relationship Owners regarding risk assessments and implications for proposed third-party usage.
  • Manage key vendor action plans to closure based on initial due diligence or ongoing monitoring results.
  • Identify escalation topics and facilitate conversations with the business regarding third-party termination and need for action plans.
  • Establish processes that allow Vendor Relationship Owners and Subject Matter Experts to identify, monitor, and document current business and process controls, assess their effectiveness and any associated issues, and communicate recommendations and solutions in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Use initiative to escalate issues or concerns arising from ongoing monitoring, such as an increase in risk, material weaknesses, repeat audit findings, deterioration in financial condition, security breaches, data loss, service or system interruptions or compliance lapses, etc.
  • Maintain strong, collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders across the business functions and corporate areas involved in vendor governance related efforts and communicate third party information across the organizational lines where beneficial to the enterprise.
  • Produce periodic management reports and communications summarizing key governance results for high risk vendors and risks and material issues in the overall third-party portfolio, including analysis on emerging issues and targeted updates for the Vendor Management Committee.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives that enhance speed, streamline decision making, and promote overall simplification.
