Job description

Founded in 2023, Takanock, LLC tackles the data center industry's core challenge of developing shovel-ready data center sites by leveraging decades of experience in site selection, power generation, energy markets, and infrastructure. Takanock focuses on Tier I and Tier II markets where demand for data centers is greatest, and power constraints are most acute. By bringing our own on-site generation and unlocking grid capacity where others struggle, we accelerate deployment timelines and ensure Continuity of PowerSM is dedicated to solving the most complex challenges at the intersection of the digital and energy industries.

Takanock is headquartered in Traverse City, Michigan, and through our additional offices in Fulton, Maryland and Austin, Texas, we focus on developing data center and power projects across the United States. Our expanding team brings a unique combination of technical expertise, market foresight, and regulatory knowledge. With the backing of a $500 million equity commitment, we are well positioned to support rapid growth through modern, secure, and scalable technology solutions.

The role will be based in Fulton, MD (Hybrid).

About the Manager, Strategic Finance Role

The Manager, Strategic Finance will play a critical role in evaluating, modeling, and supporting investment and operational decisions across Takanock's growing energy infrastructure portfolio. This individual will own the development and management of financial models, support recurring modeling requests from across the business, and provide analytical insights that guide project execution, capital allocation, and strategic growth.

This role will serve as a key partner across Finance, Development, Commercial, Engineering, and Operations teams to evaluate the economics of powering hyperscale data centers. The ideal candidate combines exceptional Excel modeling skills with strong project finance knowledge and the ability to bridge the gap between finance and operations, analyzing both the financial and operational drivers of large-scale data center and power generation projects. Candidates coming from project finance, infrastructure investing, energy companies, utilities, investment banking, data center infrastructure, or engineering-driven organizations will be especially successful in this role.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–7+ years of experience in project finance, infrastructure finance, investment banking, corporate development, strategic finance, or a related analytical role.
  • Strong analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate complex analyses clearly to both technical and executive audiences.
  • This position is expected to require the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance (up to a Top Secret level), and therefore it is a requirement for candidates to be eligible to obtain a security clearance.
Experience and Skills
  • Expert-level Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to build complex financial models from scratch.
  • Strong understanding of project finance concepts, discounted cash flow analysis, valuation, and investment modeling.
  • Experience analyzing capital-intensive projects with complex operating assumptions.
  • Ability to translate operational inputs into financial outcomes and strategic recommendations.
  • Experience in power generation, energy infrastructure, utilities, natural gas, renewable energy, or data center infrastructure (preferred).
  • Experience modeling energy costs, power markets, capacity planning, or infrastructure operations (preferred).
  • Experience working with project development teams, engineers, operators, or commercial stakeholders (preferred).
  • MBA, CFA, or other advanced finance credential (preferred).
  • Experience in a high-growth or entrepreneurial environment (preferred).
Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities
  • Own and manage Takanock's financial modeling process, including coordinating and executing modeling requests that arise throughout the year.
  • Build, maintain, and improve sophisticated project finance models used to evaluate development opportunities, investment decisions, and project economics.
Project & Investment Analysis
  • Analyze the relationship between hyperscale data center energy demand, power requirements, plant design, development sequencing, and customer economics.
  • Develop financial analyses to evaluate how power plant buildout strategy and timing impact customer energy costs, project returns, and overall project value.
  • Perform operational and financial analysis of data centers and power generation assets, including capacity planning, utilization assumptions, cost structures, and performance drivers.
  • Evaluate project-level economics including revenue forecasts, capital expenditures, operating costs, financing assumptions, IRR, NPV, and sensitivity analyses.
Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Support decision-making around project sequencing, capital deployment, and infrastructure expansion strategies.
  • Partner with Development, Commercial, Engineering, Operations, and Legal teams to evaluate project opportunities and strategic initiatives.
Reporting & Planning
  • Prepare executive-level analyses and presentations for leadership discussions, investment reviews, and strategic planning.
  • Improve financial tools, dashboards, reporting processes, and analytical frameworks to support company growth.
  • Support annual planning, forecasting, and ad hoc strategic analysis.

The base salary range for this position is $125,000–$160,000 per year, plus annual bonus and additional incentives.
