Job Description

Working for this leading academic medical center means collaboration with top clinical, technical, and business professionals across all disciplines.

Location: Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, PA

Schedule: Primarily Monday through Friday, day shift, leading a 24/7 operations team. Availability on 2nd and 3rd shifts is required.

Responsibilities include managing the Sterile Processing Department, overseeing activities 24/7, directing shift leaders and technicians, monitoring sterilization processes, and coordinating case cart activities. Effective communication with leadership and troubleshooting daily activities are essential.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and implement unit goals aligned with department and hospital objectives.
  • Plan staffing based on patient needs and workload analysis.
  • Develop standards and protocols for cleaning and sterilization.
  • Manage daily operations through team leaders.
  • Prepare and control budgets.
  • Coach, counsel, and discipline staff as needed.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other departments to optimize patient care outcomes.
  • Assess employee competency and evaluate performance.
Minimum Job Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Graduate of an approved surgical technology school or CRCST certification through Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) within 12 months, plus CHL certification in Healthcare Leadership.
  • Two years supervisory experience.
  • HSPA CRCST certification required within 24 months of employment.
  • Good computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two or more years of surgical technologist or CRCST experience.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
