The salary for this position ranges from $97,300 to $175,200, based on factors like skills, experience, and organizational needs. Typically, new hires are not at the top of this range.

Job Description

The Manager, State Agency Sales will drive growth by prospecting enterprise customers and closing deals, carrying a sales quota aligned with organizational goals. The role requires strong connections within government sales—specifically with state, county, and city agencies—and focuses on engaging decision-makers to foster partnerships, enterprise pilots, and revenue growth for our apprenticeship management platform and related products.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Meet and exceed sales quotas by prospecting and closing contracts with enterprise-level customers.
  • Develop and support the state agency ecosystem through direct engagement and collaboration with WGU and Craft Government Relations teams.
  • Contribute to the development of sales strategies focused on state and local agencies, aligned with organizational goals.
  • Maintain a pipeline of qualified leads using CRM tools and sales processes.
  • Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing sales team fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Refine sales strategies based on market feedback and data insights.
  • Collaborate on product development by providing sales insights.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proven success in meeting/exceeding quotas selling SaaS to enterprise clients.
  • Experience managing a pipeline of qualified leads.
  • Expertise in B2B solution selling and managing accounts to generate partnerships and revenue.
  • Deep connections within government sales sectors, especially with state and local agencies.
  • Curiosity and empathy to learn our products and sell across talent acquisition, L&D, and data reporting.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment with strong business judgment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Experience managing and developing a sales team.
  • High integrity and professionalism.
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
Experience
  • At least 5 years in B2B sales, with 3 years selling SaaS to enterprise clients and carrying quotas.
  • Experience selling to governmental agencies, such as State Departments of Education or Labor.
Experience in Lieu of Education

Equivalent relevant experience may substitute for formal education, generally 1 year of experience for 1 year of education, at the discretion of the hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience selling data management and compliance reporting software.
  • Experience selling employee upskilling and L&D platforms.
  • Background in startup environments, especially EdTech and Future of Work sectors.
