The salary range considers various factors such as skills, experience, certifications, and organizational needs. Typically, new hires are not placed at the top of the range. The current estimated range is:

  • Pay Range: $97,300 - $175,200

Job Description

The Manager, State Agency Sales will drive growth by prospecting enterprise customers and closing revenue deals. This role involves managing a sales quota, targeting government agencies, and building partnerships to promote our apprenticeship management platform and related products.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Achieve sales quotas through prospecting and closing contracts with enterprise clients.
  • Develop the state agency ecosystem through engagement and partnerships, collaborating with WGU and Craft Government Relations teams.
  • Refine sales strategies focused on state and local agencies to support organizational growth.
  • Maintain a pipeline of qualified leads using CRM and sales tools.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing sales team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Optimize sales strategies based on market feedback and data insights.
  • Contribute sales insights to product development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven success in meeting/exceeding SaaS sales quotas at the enterprise level.
  • Experience managing and converting a lead pipeline.
  • Knowledge of B2B sales practices, solution selling, and account management.
  • Deep connections in government sales, especially with state and local agencies.
  • Curiosity and empathy to learn our products and sell across talent acquisition, L&D, and data reporting.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, with strong business judgment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, engaging with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Leadership skills to manage and develop a sales team.
  • High integrity and professionalism.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

Experience

  • At least 5 years in B2B SaaS sales, with 3+ years carrying quotas and selling to enterprise clients.
  • Experience selling to government agencies (e.g., State Departments of Education or Labor).

In Lieu of Education

Relevant experience may substitute for formal education at the discretion of the hiring manager (1 year experience = 1 year education).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience selling data management and compliance reporting software.
  • Experience with employee upskilling and L&D platforms.
  • Startup experience, especially in EdTech or Future of Work sectors.
