Job summary

Ultragenyx in the United States seeks a Senior Manager, Global Logistics to lead end-to-end logistics across clinical and commercial supply chains, ensuring compliant, efficient distribution of DS, DP, and FG globally, with GDP, cold chain, and trade compliance expertise.

The role partners cross-functionally to maintain supply continuity, drive improvements, and oversee 3PLs, QMS changes, and quality events, with a path to permanent employment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
  • 8–12+ years in logistics or distribution within biotech/pharma.
  • Strong knowledge of GxP, GDP, and GMP regulations.
  • Experience with global cold chain logistics and complex networks.
  • Experience with external manufacturing and logistics partners globally.
  • Experience using quality systems like Veeva QMS is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead global transportation and distribution activities across clinical and commercial supply chains.
  • Oversee shipment execution for drug substance, drug product, and finished goods across global markets.
  • Ensure cold chain integrity and compliance for temperature-sensitive and ultra-cold products.
  • Manage third-party logistics providers, freight forwarders, and external distribution partners.
  • Lead logistics-related change control activities within Veeva QMS and maintain documentation.
  • Oversee deviations, CAPAs, and quality events for global logistics operations.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and logistics procedures aligned with GDP.
  • Support audits and inspections with documentation and SME input.
  • Drive continuous improvement to enhance efficiency, visibility and compliance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Supply Chain, QA, Regulatory, Manufacturing and external partners.

About the Role

The Senior Manager, Global Logistics is responsible for the end-to-end execution, oversight, and optimization of global logistics operations across clinical and commercial supply chains. This includes ensuring compliant, efficient, and reliable distribution of drug substance, drug product, and finished goods across global markets. The role serves as a subject matter expert in GDP, cold chain logistics, and global trade compliance, supporting high-value, temperature-sensitive therapies and partnering cross-functionally to ensure continuity of supply to patients.

Responsibilities
  • Lead global transportation and distribution activities across clinical and commercial supply chains
  • Oversee shipment execution for drug substance (DS), drug product (DP), and finished goods (FG) across global markets
  • Ensure cold chain integrity and compliance for temperature-sensitive and ultra-cold products
  • Manage third-party logistics providers (3PLs), freight forwarders, and external distribution partners
  • Lead logistics-related change control activities within Veeva QMS and maintain associated documentation
  • Oversee deviations, CAPAs, and quality events associated with global logistics operations
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and logistics procedures aligned with GDP requirements
  • Support audits and inspections by providing documentation and subject matter expertise
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, visibility, and compliance
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Supply Chain, QA, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and external partners
