FreeWheel is looking for a Manager, Software Engineering to join our Buyercloud (formerly Beeswax) Ad Serving team. The Ad Serving system is the backbone of the Buyercloud platform. It listens to billions of ad auctions per day, decides which of our hundreds of customers should participate, and executes complex bidding strategies to provide optimal results, in milliseconds.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of software engineers,providing them withdirection, guidance, and opportunities for growth.
  • Collaborate with theBuyerCloudProductManagementteam to deliver new features toBuyercloudcustomers.
  • Provide guidance on technicalarchitecture,designphilosophies, and engineering practicesfor your team.
  • Driveimprovements to Ad Servingsoftwareinfrastructure.
  • Ensure adherence to deadlines, specifications, and budgets.
  • Reviewteam members’ work to ensurequalityto team standards.
  • Provide technical support and trainingin Ad Serving capabilities.
  • Implementand reviewemployeeperformance metrics.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trendsandtechnologies.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.

Working conditions

Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ yearsrelated experiencewith technical leadership.Experience in the media or advertising industry is a huge plus.
  • 10+ years of overall software development experience.
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proficientinbuilding distributed applications using object-oriented languages such as C++, Java, Rust, or Go.
  • Experience in deployingand operatingapplicationsina public cloud provider.
  • Proficient in Jira,Confluence,Git, and MS Office products.
  • AWS certification is a bonus
  • Strong SQL skills with hands‑on experience
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK stack.
