Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years of hands-on software development experience, preferably building enterprise-scale applications and distributed systems.
• 5+ years of experience leading engineering organizations, technology delivery teams, or cross-functional product initiatives.
• Strong foundation with scalable architectures, modern design patterns, and cloud-native applications.
• Experience with distributed commerce platforms; Java, Spring Boot, GraphQL, REST APIs, microservices, Kafka, NoSQL, and cloud.
• Experience designing systems that are resilient, observable, performant, scalable, and support operational excellence.
• Ability to partner with Product Managers, Architects, Engineering Leads, and business stakeholders to define priorities, make decisions, and deliver measurable business value.
• Experience leading globally distributed teams using Agile methodologies.
• Excellent communication, able to present to executive leadership.
• Experience with modern SDLC platforms, CI/CD, developer tools, and cloud delivery practices.

Disney Experiences is seeking an Engineering Manager who is passionate about leading the delivery and execution of initiatives that advance our core commerce platforms. This leader will align product strategy, technical direction, and business priorities while partnering across engineering, product, and business organizations to develop, deliver, and maintain mission-critical applications. The ideal candidate will bring a strong software engineering background, experience building enterprise-scale platforms, and a proven ability to lead teams delivering highly scalable, cloud-native solutions.

You Will:

• Lead, coach, and support delivery teams that include full-stack software engineers, application architects, and scrum masters.

• Guide technical planning and execution across engineering and product teams, ensuring work aligns with business goals, platform strategy, and delivery priorities.

• Own the development and delivery of multiple large-scale commerce platform initiatives.

• Partner with technology, product, and business leaders to shape platform strategy, prioritize investments, and execute the technology roadmap.

• Communicate project status, technical direction, roadmap updates, and key decisions to senior leaders.

• Oversee technical analysis, effort estimation, solution design, architectural alignment, resource planning, delivery milestones, and solution quality.

• Lead implementation planning across deployment, system integration, quality assurance, operations, and long-term platform sustainability.

• Help teams resolve conflicts, make sound decisions, and stay focused on delivery outcomes.

• Foster a culture of engineering excellence, operational stability, innovation, quality, and continuous improvement.

• Manage project timelines, budgets, forecasts, vendor contracts, and financial commitments.

• Build strong relationships with stakeholders, vendor partners, product teams, and customers to align priorities and deliver meaningful outcomes.

• Support critical operational incidents and participate in implementation transition and hyper-care activities as needed.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Minimum of 8 years of hands-on software development experience, preferably building enterprise-scale applications and distributed systems.5+ years of experience leading engineering organizations, technology delivery teams, or cross-functional product initiatives.

• Strong software engineering foundation with experience designing, developing, and operating large-scale distributed or cloud-native applications.

• Experience with scalable architectures, modern design patterns, and technologies commonly used in distributed commerce platforms, including Java, Spring Boot, GraphQL, REST APIs, microservices, Kafka, event-driven architecture, NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, and cloud platforms.

• Experience designing systems that are resilient, observable, performant, scalable, and support operational excellence.

• Ability to partner with Product Managers, Architects, Engineering Leads, and business stakeholders to define priorities, make decisions, and deliver measurable business value.

• Experience leading globally distributed teams using Agile methodologies.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across production and test environments.

• Experience working in a large media, technology, internet, or enterprise software organization.

• Experience delivering complex technology initiatives on time and within budget.

• Comfortable working in large, matrixed organizations and navigating ambiguity.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical and business recommendations to executive leadership.

• Experience with modern software development lifecycle platforms, CI/CD pipelines, developer productivity tools, and cloud delivery practices.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in pricing, inventory, commerce, reservation, transactional, or decisioning platforms.

• Experience in travel, hospitality, hotel, airline, cruise, or related industries.

Education Requirement

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience.

The hiring range for this position in Orlando, FL is $163,400 - $219,100 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
