Job summary

Bright Horizons seeks a Manager, Software Development to lead a skilled team in Newton, MA. You will drive cloud-based solutions using Azure/AWS and tech stacks including .NET, Java, Node.js, and Angular/React, ensuring scalable, high-performance software across products.

You’ll mentor engineers, perform hands-on development, and promote best practices with a focus on architecture, security, and delivery excellence in a hybrid work setting three days per week on site.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, or related field.
  • 8+ years of application development and leadership experience.
  • Strong track record in Azure/AWS, .NET/Java/Node.js, and Angular/React.
  • Experience with software architecture design and security practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a software development and architecture team.
  • Design and implement scalable software using cloud services (Azure/AWS).
  • Develop web apps with Angular/React focusing on user experience.

Whether you’re caring for children or powering the systems and partnerships that make it all possible, at Bright Horizons, you’re the difference.Essential Functions/ResponsibilitiesLead and manage a team of software developers and architects.Design and implement scalable, high-performance software solutions using Azure/AWS services, .Net/Java/Node.js.Develop web applications with a focus on user experience using Angular/React.Ensure code quality and maintainability by conducting code reviews and applying best practices.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and achieve project goals.Provide technical leadership in .NET and related technologies.Actively participate in the hands-on development of the application set, demonstrating technical expertise and fostering a culture of quality and innovation.Maintain comprehensive documentation for all applications and provide regular progress reports to management, ensuring transparency and accountability.Drive continuous improvement and innovation in software architecture and development processes.Manage project timelines, resources, and risk assessments.Mentor and develop team members through coaching, performance reviews, and goal setting.Minimum requirements:Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, or a related field8+ years of application development and application development managementPreferred qualifications/skills:Master’s degree in engineering, technology, or a related field preferred8 years of experience in software development with a focus on Azure/AWS, .NET/Java/Node.js, and Angular/React.Proven experience in software architecture design and implementation.Strong understanding of cloud security practices and experience implementing security measures in Azure/AWS environments.Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, particularly within Azure/ AWS ecosystems.Knowledge of DDD, Event driven, Microservices architectural patterns is highly desired.Strong leadership skills and experience managing a software development team.Experience managing all phases of the project life cycle, including running project prioritization meetings, post-installation project post-mortem meetings and a proven track record of multi-tasking, meeting deadlines and delivering projects on budget.Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Travel as required.At this time, Bright Horizons will not sponsor an applicant for employment authorization/visa for this position.Be part of a community where people grow, futures are shaped, and lives are changed. The pay range listed here is what Bright Horizons in good faith anticipates offering for this job opening.
