Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a Manager, Software Development to lead the evolution of Bentley’s Civil Engineering software portfolio. In this role, you will manage a globally distributed team of developers and oversee day‑to‑day operations, driving technical excellence, organizational transformation, and strategic impact.

Responsibilities
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a global software engineering team.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Drive delivery of highly available, scalable, and performant cloud services.
  • Champion the transition to an Empowered Teams organizational model.
  • Promote modern engineering practices, tools, and workflows to improve productivity and quality.
  • Ensure high standards for code quality, maintainability, testing, and overall product stability.
  • Oversee release readiness, defect management, and continuous improvement of engineering processes.
  • Use data, telemetry, customer feedback, and engineering insight to guide product strategies, prioritize engineering investments, and optimize development efficiency.
  • Partner with Product Management, UX, Quality Engineering, and leadership to align on product strategy and delivery goals.
  • Support cross‑functional coordination to ensure the success of major initiatives.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop high‑performing engineering talent.
  • Encourage continuous learning, skill development, and technical growth within the team.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience with 3+ years of technical experience.
  • Proven leadership experience managing globally distributed software teams with 2+ years of experience.
  • Strong communication, strategic thinking, and collaborative leadership skills.
  • High intellectual curiosity and adaptability to evolving tools, technologies, and industry trends.
  • A coaching‑oriented mindset with a passion for team and individual development.
