Experienced Accounting Supervisor / Manager (SEC Reporting & Advisory Services)
The CFO Squad is seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor / Manager to join our growing accounting advisory and consulting practice. Position Summary:
The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, oversee multiple engagements simultaneously, manage and mentor accounting professionals, and provide technical accounting and SEC reporting expertise. Key Responsibilities
Client Service & Engagement Management
- Lead and manage multiple client engagements, ensuring quality deliverables and adherence to deadlines.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients and build strong long-term relationships.
- Provide accounting advisory, financial reporting, and SEC compliance support to public and private company clients.
- Review and analyze client financial statements, disclosures, and supporting schedules for accuracy and completeness.
- Manage engagement budgets, staffing allocations, and project timelines.
- Identify client needs and recommend value-added accounting, reporting, and process improvement solutions.
SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting
- Oversee the preparation and review of:
- Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, S-1, and other SEC filings
- Financial statements and footnote disclosures
- Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A)
- Accounting position papers and technical accounting memorandums
- Research and interpret complex accounting issues under U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations.
- Advise clients on accounting treatment for:
- Equity transactions
- Stock compensation
- Debt instruments
- Business combinations
- Revenue recognition and lease accounting
- Monitor new accounting pronouncements and SEC guidance and assess client impacts.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop Senior Accountants, Staff Accountants, and Consultants.
- Review staff workpapers, financial statements, reconciliations, and deliverables.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and performance guidance to team members.
- Promote consistent quality standards and professional development across engagements.
- Assist in recruiting, training, onboarding, and retention initiatives.
Process Improvement & Advisory
- Evaluate and improve accounting processes, workflows, and internal controls.
- Assist clients with month-end and year-end close optimization.
- Support SOX compliance and internal control enhancement projects when applicable.
- Recommend technology and automation solutions to improve financial reporting efficiency.
- Participate in firm initiatives focused on scalability, quality assurance, and operational excellence.
Business Development & Firm Leadership
- Participate in proposal development and client presentations.
- Identify opportunities for expanded services within existing client relationships.
- Contribute to the firm's thought leadership, training programs, and strategic growth initiatives.
- Serve as a leader within the organization by exemplifying our core values and commitment to client service.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA required or actively pursuing CPA preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive public accounting, accounting advisory, SEC reporting, or consulting experience.
- Prior experience in an Accounting Advisory, SEC Reporting, Transaction Advisory, or Outsourced Accounting practice preferred.
- Experience at firms such as CFGI, Centri, WilliamsMarston, CrossCountry Consulting, Deloitte, Cherry Bekaert, Grant Thornton, BDO, CohnReznick, Aprio, Eventus, or similar advisory-focused groups strongly preferred. (This aligns with the hiring profile referenced internally.)
- Strong knowledge of:
- U.S. GAAP
- SEC reporting requirements
- Financial statement preparation and disclosures
- Internal controls and SOX concepts
- Technical accounting research
- Experience managing teams, client relationships, and multiple engagements simultaneously.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar platforms.
- Outstanding project management, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation Ranges Between $130,000 to $150,000 based on experience.
