Job summary

Breakthru Beverage Group in Minneapolis seeks a Manager, Route Optimization to lead market reroute projects, standardize SOPs, and drive on-time delivery while reducing waste and cost. The role collaborates with site leadership, sales, and finance.

You will analyze routing data, manage tools such as Omnitracs Routing and Strategic Planner, and mentor site routers. A Bachelor’s in supply chain and 5+ years in route planning are expected, with a flexible hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

• Execute reroutes to support new business growth, acquisitions, seasonal solutions, and routine routing updates
• Support capital and resource planning for vehicles and drivers
• Deep dive into data to provide root cause and preventative solutions
• Establish benchmarks with sites to close performance gaps
• Perform regular reviews of routing performance
• Gain alignment with states on delivery routing and service policy
• Lead service level improvement initiatives in the market
• Support development and training of site routers and managers
• Subject matter expert for routing systems: Omnitracs Routing, Strategic Planner, Dispatch, and Insight
• Establish goals and monitor progress: Delivery frequency guidelines, On-time Delivery, Productivity Targets, database maintenance
• Continuously update routing SOPs and develop training materials
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Job Description Summary

The Manager, Route Optimization is a member of the market operations routing team and responsible for the strategic route planning processes (reroutes) in the assigned market(s). The position reports to the Director, Route Optimization. Working collaboratively with site Operation Directors, the Sales Team and other key Executives, this individual will lead the market reroute project in a collaborating, engaging, & thoughtful way ensuring a higher level of consistent service & on time delivery while reducing waste and cost for the market. They will also standardize routing operating procedures, bench marking, sharing best practices, and serving as the thought leader and route planning subject matter expert.

This role follows a flexible hybrid schedule and can be performed from any Breakthru Beverage office location.

Job Responsibilities

• Analysis and Problem Solving
  • Execute reroutes to supporting new business growth, acquisitions, seasonal solutions, and routine routing updates
  • Support capital and resource planning activities to determine appropriate number/type of vehicles and drivers needed
  • Deep dive into data and systems to analyze a variety of business challenges to provide root cause and preventative solutions
  • Customer excellence – establishing benchmarks and working with sites to close performance gaps
  • Perform regular reviews of routing performance

  • Gain alignment with states on areas of focus related to delivery routing and service policy management
  • Lead service level improvement initiatives in the market working with sales, operations, finance, and leadership
  • Support development and training of site routers and managers
  • Subject matter expert (SME) for routing and systems: Omnitracs Routing, Strategic Planner, Dispatch, and Insight
• Process Improvement
  • Establish goals and monitor progress: Delivery frequency guidelines, On-time Delivery, Productivity Targets, database maintenance
  • Continuously update and communicate routing standard operating procedures
  • Lead development and implementation of routing training materials
  • Other duties, as assigned by the jobholder’s supervisor, may also be required

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management and/or equivalent degree and work experience
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in in route planning
• Analytical experience required with knowledge of routing systems data
• Mathematical/statistical abilities
• Understanding of route planning technology tools and business process
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to communicate the results of analysis clearly and concisely in both verbal and in written form.
• Data gathering skills, and quantitative and qualitative data analysis, including the ability to link business process improvements to KPIs.
• Experience in change management specifically in implementing and influencing change.
• Proficient PC skills using MS Office and other various computer programs including presentation software
• Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team, pay attention to detail and meet deadlines
• Utilize sound judgement and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in fast-paced, high-volume, team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in change management, collaborative teams sessions

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data/ranges, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience.

Salary Range: $96,600 - $120,000

This position is eligible to participate in a bonus program. Metrics and level of participation are determined annually.
