Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Manager, Risk Analytics based in the United States.

This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for shaping risk analytics methodology, pricing strategy, and portfolio decision-making.

You’ll serve as the senior technical voice for Risk Analytics while helping build and scale the function and its team.

The role combines hands‑on analytical depth with strategic influence across pricing, risk management, data infrastructure, and business operations.

You’ll develop frameworks and guardrails that make risk decisions more accurate, consistent, and defensible, even when data is limited.

Working closely with senior leadership, you’ll translate complex analytics into recommendations that directly influence major commercial decisions.

You’ll also establish the data models, standards, and technical practices that will underpin the function for years to come.

This is an opportunity for an experienced analytics leader who enjoys mentoring others while remaining deeply engaged in technical and strategic work.

Accountabilities

  • Define and own the pricing methodology for risk premiums, establishing frameworks, validation standards, and guardrails that support accurate and defensible pricing across new and existing categories.

  • Lead the risk strategy conversation with senior leadership, translating portfolio performance and loss trends into recommendations on pricing, renegotiation, program continuation, or exit.

  • Develop decision systems that transform risk monitoring and analytics into actionable business processes, identifying opportunities to improve claims outcomes, premiums, and portfolio performance.

  • Architect and manage the Risk Analytics data foundation, including data models, standards, pipelines, and the long-term roadmap built on modern data infrastructure.

  • Establish technical and analytical standards that improve the quality, consistency, and scalability of work across the Risk Analytics function.

  • Mentor Lead and senior data scientists, providing technical guidance, feedback, and coaching while raising the overall analytical bar.

  • Promote AI-native ways of working by identifying practical opportunities to use modern AI tools to improve analytical efficiency, quality, and productivity.

  • Partner across business, analytics, data, and leadership teams to ensure risk decisions account for broader organizational priorities and commercial objectives.

  • Communicate complex analytical findings clearly to audiences ranging from technical specialists to senior executives and other stakeholders with varying levels of data expertise.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in actuarial pricing, predictive modeling, risk analytics, or a closely related field, with demonstrated ownership of methodology, strategy, or high-impact analytical decisions.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.

  • Strong analytical and technical capabilities across SQL, Python or R, data pipelines, and data modeling.

  • Experience with modern data tools such as dbt and Snowflake, along with visualization platforms such as Tableau or Streamlit.

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor senior analysts or data scientists and raise a team’s technical standards through influence, coaching, and strong analytical practices.

  • Ability to investigate complex datasets in depth while translating insights into clear recommendations for executives and cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Strong business judgment and the ability to look beyond a single function, balancing risk considerations with broader commercial and organizational priorities.

  • Relevant actuarial experience, such as ACAS or equivalent actuarial examination experience, is preferred but not required.

  • Familiarity with modern AI tools such as Claude, Gemini, or similar technologies, with genuine enthusiasm for applying them to improve analytical workflows and efficiency.

  • Strong empathy, humility, curiosity, and communication skills, with the ability to build trust across diverse teams.

  • Comfortable operating in an environment that values ownership, experimentation, continuous improvement, and high technical standards.

Benefits

  • Expected base salary of $160,000–$180,000 per year, with individual compensation determined by relevant knowledge, skills, experience, and other job-related factors.

  • Stock opportunities in a rapidly growing early‑stage company.

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits.

  • Generous and flexible paid time off.

  • 401(k) plan with financial guidance and support.
