Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, part of the Optum family, is hiring a Pharmacist In Charge for our Houston retail pharmacy. You will lead operations, ensure accurate prescription processing, and deliver high customer satisfaction while managing costs and staff performance.

Responsibilities

• Manage all retail pharmacy operations for designated site and staff.
• Perform duties related to processing prescriptions to meet objectives.
• Provide prompt, courteous customer service and role model excellent service.
• Oversee profitable operation including COGs, supply expenses and overtime controls.
• Ensure adherence to policies and timely responses to communications.
• May serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge for licensing agreements.
• Order and stock inventory to meet patient needs and inventory turns.
• Promote training and education of pharmacy personnel; conduct performance evaluations.
• Ensure immunizations documented in EMR and maintain medication synchronization program.
• Schedule retail staff and manage time-off requests.
• Maintain and grow prescription volume at the site.
• Attend meetings as designated.

Primary Responsibilities:

• 10% Manages all retail pharmacy operations for designated site, retail pharmacy manager I, and hourly pharmacy personnel
• 10% Performs professional duties and responsibilities, associated with processing of prescriptions, to meet KSC and Kelsey Pharmacy objectives and maintains a pharmacy that delivers a high level of customer satisfaction
• 10% Ensures prompt and courteous customer service by all retail pharmacy personnel. Serves as role model for excellent customer service
• 10% Responsible for the profitable operation of the designated retail pharmacy including managing Cost of Goods Sold (COGs) to budget, management of supply expenses, and management of overtime by staff
• 10% Responsible for the implementation and adherence of KSC and Kelsey Pharmacy policies and procedures. Responsible for reading and responding when requested to emails and other communications sent by pharmacy administration on a timely basis
• 5% Responsible for adherence to federal and state Pharmacy laws. May serve as the Pharmacist-in-charge for licensing agreements
• 10% Responsible for the proper ordering and stocking of inventory to maintain patient availability while achieving both monthly purchasing expenditures and inventory turns objectives. Responsible for maintaining accurate quantities on hand in the pharmacy operating system as well as maintaining appropriate minimum and maximum order points for all drug inventory to meet the needs of customers
• 10% Promotes training and education. Assists/delegates in the training of all pharmacy personnel and assigned students. If pharmacist-in-charge, responsible for maintaining pharmacy technician training manual and keeping current and up to date at all times. Conduct performance appraisal, counseling, and with Pharmacy Director or Pharmacy Administrator and Human Resource approval, termination of Pharmacy personnel
• 10% Ensures all pharmacy administered immunizations are documented in the electronic medical record as well as the pharmacy operating system, ensure all specialty documentation is complete in the pharmacy operating system, ensure medication synchronization program is kept active and properly maintained for all enrolled patients. Ensures pharmacist, pharmacy technician, and pharmacy service representative engagement with all pharmacy initiatives
• 4% Schedules designated retail pharmacy personnel and manage time off requests appropriately
• 10% Responsible for maintaining and growing prescription volume at designated site
• 1% Attend meetings as designated

Required Qualifications:

• BS or Pharm D College of Pharmacy
• Current Texas Pharmacy license
• 3+ years of retail pharmacy experience with 2+ years of experience as Pharmacist In Charge
• Operate computer terminal for processing prescriptions
• Communication - Proven ability to communicate with Pharmacy Department personnel to delegate duties, inform about policies, train, assist with performance appraisals, and approve refunds/expense/returns
• Stress Tolerance - Proven to accurately process prescriptions within the required amount of time
• Proven professional Appearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• HMO and 3rd party managed care experience
• BCLS
• Immunization Certification
• Pharmacy Preceptor Certification
• Proven ability to travel to multiple pharmacy locations

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $112,700 - $193,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
