A leading city agency is seeking a Resiliency and Sustainability Manager to direct climate resilience and sustainability efforts. This role includes managing grants, developing policies, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance adaptability and sustainable practices across city operations. Candidates should possess a relevant bachelor’s degree and significant experience in sustainability management, as well as lead public education initiatives.
Under general direction, develops, implements, and monitors the City’s Climate Change, Resiliency and Sustainability Teams and actions; incorporates sustainability, climate, and resilience strategies into all aspects of City operations; continually advances the community wide goals of greenhouse gas emission reduction, LEED for Communities Certification, Rethink Paradise Climate Action Plan and moves the City to be more environmentally, socially, and economically resilient; develop, execute, and oversee water conservation programs and initiatives that promote efficient water use and protect groundwater and surface water supplies; serves as the liaison of the City with the public, regional, national and international organizations for issues and advances in sustainable and resilient practices within City operations; and performs other related duties as assigned.
The Resiliency and Sustainability Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing sustainability, adaptation, and resiliency strategies for the City. This role focuses on securing and administering grants, integrating modern technology into these subject areas, and ensuring departmental policies align with current best practices in resilience, adaptation, and sustainability. The position requires collaboration with internal departments, external agencies, and community stakeholders to promote and enhance the departmental efforts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Which are not in any hierarchical order)
Bachelor’s degree with a major in Climate Science, Environmental Policy, Urban Planning, Sustainability Environmental Sciences, Public Policy, Management, or related field (education will be verified using the “Education Requirements” listed below) and five (5) years relevant work experience in the area of sustainability program management is required, or any equivalent combination of training and experience. One (1) year of supervisory experience is required. A current and valid Florida driver’s license is required. For application purposes, a valid driver’s license from any state (equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized; with the ability to obtain the State of Florida driver’s license within thirty (30) days from date of employment. Education Requirements :To be considered valid (or verified) for position qualification purposes, and consistent with City Hiring Policy 4-5, a High School, GED or equivalent diploma, and all higher education degrees or certifications must have been issued by: a)a public education institution in the State of Florida or any State or Territory of the United States; or b)an institution accredited by an accrediting organization that is recognized by the Florida Department of Education or the U.S. Department of Education; or c)an institution that is accredited by an organization that is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA); or d)an institution whose degree or certification is accepted by institutions identified in either a), b), or c), above, for the purpose of admission to institutions identified in either a), b), or c) above. International degrees will be evaluated to determine if they satisfy qualification requirements. |
