Job summary

JLL in Charlotte, NC seeks a Research Manager to lead the Carolinas office and its industrial research platform, informing strategy with data-driven insights. The role partners with local leadership to set research direction and ensure high‑quality market narratives for clients.

The ideal candidate brings at least five years in CRE research, strong presenting skills, and a track record of driving strategic research initiatives that differentiate the firm.

Responsibilities

• Edit and manage production of Carolinas local market research reports and contributions to national reports.

• Tell a compelling story about the local market to establish JLL as a thought leader in CRE, economics and demographics.
• Develop white papers on key trends and contribute to national research reports.
• Collaborate with Southeast Regional Research Director and senior market leadership to execute the research plan.
• Develop strong relationships with clients and support new business efforts.

Manager, Research – Carolinas

The Research Manager will lead the Carolinas office and industrial research platform and establish themselves as a thought leader by telling a clear and compelling story about the local market, helping build and maintain a competitive advantage in the marketplace through market expertise and providing analysis and strategic insight. This role involves engaging with market leaders, ensuring collaboration and support for client initiatives and business objectives, in addition to working with the Research Analyst in Charlotte and Raleigh.

The Research Manager will support the Carolinas office and industrial markets by using data from JLL and other sources to analyze market conditions and effectively tell a clear and compelling story about the local market that will enable JLL and its clients to be more effective, competitive and successful in the real estate marketplace. The role will manage and analyze the Carolinas commercial real estate markets with a focus on trend analysis, market presentation, strategic business development support and research content creation. You will work closely with internal Carolinas research colleagues, brokerage professionals and clients in the local market, as well as with research colleagues throughout the nation within JLL’s Americas Research group.

What this job involves

• Edit and manage production of Carolinas local market research reports and contributions to national reports

• Analyze and report on the local economy with respect to employment statistics, major company activity, industry trends and demographic shifts

• Maintain extensive knowledge of the macro and micro factors affecting the marketplace and proactively position research to leverage this knowledge for the business and for clients

• Maximize your team’s skills and analysis to tell a compelling story about the local market to establish JLL as the clear thought leader for understanding trends in commercial real estate, economics and demographic drivers

• Implement and manage the overall local strategic research plan that aligns with Americas research plans and local business objectives

• Collaborate at a high level with the Southeast Regional Research Director and senior market leadership to execute the research plan

• Identify opportunities and implement AI tools responsibly in research workflows.” - open to you adjusting based on other language you have seen in postings

• Present compelling trend analysis regularly to internal teams and clients

• Manage the statistical and analytical quality of data for the market

• Develop strong relationships with internal and external clients and facilitate the use of research as a differentiator including being personally client facing and externally focused on new business efforts

• Work with marketing teams and business leaders to position research to contribute to all business development efforts

• Develop white paper reports on key trends, issues affecting the markets, economy and region and contribute to national research reports on unique market economic or industry trends

Desired skills and experience for this job

• Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, urban planning or related field desired

• Five or more years in commercial real estate research or closely related field

• Command of local market and business with good understanding of macro trends and historical perspective

• Dynamic presentation skills and experience presenting insightful content to clients

• High‑level analytical skills and problem‑solving ability

• Proactive and strategic thinking and ability to lead research initiatives, align research with the business and innovate research output

• Ability to effectively and professionally exceed client expectations and positively represent the firm

• Ability to multi‑task, be resilient and can effectively manage time and workload

• A desire to work within a diverse, collaborative and driven professional environment

Expected compensation for this position

97,400.00 – 141,100.00 USD per year

Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
