The Opportunity
- Manage a team of Business Intelligence Engineers and Data Scientists in reporting tasks, including dashboards, benchmarking, data extraction/logic, and data science models.
- Oversee the collection, approval, development, and communication/training of data product enhancement requests.
- Lead, review, and direct team work to meet program initiatives, operational plans, and results within schedule and budget.
- Provide performance feedback, recognition, rewards, and disciplinary actions with support from People Operations.
- Create a positive work environment to train and develop the team, emphasizing understanding of policies, procedures, and customer service.
- Mentor and coach team members to enhance competencies.
- Participate in hiring, firing, promotion, performance, and rewards decisions for direct reports.
- Prioritize development efforts with the Director of Business Intelligence and communicate with stakeholders.
- Balance customer, business, and stakeholder needs with technical capabilities, providing recommendations amidst uncertainty.
- Facilitate discussions to develop business requirements and user stories, interpreting needs to design effective workflows or products.
- Collaborate with technical teams, groom backlogs, and resolve roadblocks.
- Manage documentation and issue tracking, create training content, and support user adoption.
- Promote products by demonstrating value to stakeholders and supporting the user community.
- Become a subject matter expert in data sources and participate in system upgrades/migrations, troubleshooting issues, and providing updates.
- Build and maintain relationships with business stakeholders and other ITS teams.
- Influence and collaborate with leadership, presenting and securing approvals as needed.
- Work with Physician Leadership and Operations to co-design data products and identify opportunities for leveraging data sources.
- Develop prototypes using Tableau, gather feedback, and produce documentation for production.
- Stay informed of industry best practices in analytics, BI, and data science.
Required Experience and Competencies
- Master's Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a similar field.
- 6+ years of data science experience with Python, machine learning, and data warehouses.
- 2+ years of development experience with Tableau and BI software.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, Power BI, and Tableau.
- Strong experience with ETL processes and database management.
- Development experience with AI or ChatGPT applications is preferred.
- Healthcare experience with physicians is preferred.
- Experience working in an Agile environment and knowledge of Cloud Technologies are preferred.
- Understanding of healthcare nomenclature and hospital quality measures is preferred.
- Ability to communicate technical solutions effectively to diverse audiences.
- Excellent management, communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and translate business needs into data models.
