Energy Accounting plays a critical role in ensuring proper cost recovery from customers by implementing regulatory requirements from our commissions while complying with US GAAP. The department's responsibilities offer a unique opportunity to develop broad utility knowledge, understand how regulatory outcomes translate into financial reporting, and see how accounting decisions support operations, customer programs, and long-term business strategy. This dynamic team engages regularly with coworkers from our Regulatory Affairs, Law, Operations Finance, and operational teams across PG&E to understand programs, implement regulatory accounting requirements, and ensure incurred costs are properly tracked in alignment with commission authorizations. Through this work, team members gain exposure to a wide range of utility activities, build strong cross-functional partnerships, and develop the technical and business knowledge needed to support informed decision making across the company.
Oversees one of three teams that support regulatory accounting at PG&E Utility. With the support of a team of 5 analysts, this includes cost recovery through PG&E's General Rate Case with the California Public Utilities Commission and Transmission Owner Formula Rate with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Further, this role supports the delivery of accurate and timely financial data to support strategic decision making and compliance with financial reporting requirements.
The successful candidate will provide oversight and direction to help the team navigate work that can fluctuate and evolve based on outcomes from state and federal commissions. This role requires a leader who can guide priorities, anticipate impacts, communicate effectively, elevate risks timely, and connect day-to-day accounting activities to the broader regulatory, financial, and operational objectives of the company.

The actual salary paid to an individual will bebased on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience,market value, geographic location, and internal equity.Although we estimatethe successful candidate hiredinto this rolewill beplaced between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decisionwill be made on a case-by-casebasis related tothese factors.This job is also eligible to participate inPG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.
