Aecon Group is seeking a Manager, Quality Assurance in Aiken, SC to lead QA activities for nuclear projects. You will develop project/site Quality Plans, prepare procedures, and oversee QA personnel, ensuring compliance with Code, jurisdictional, customer and internal requirements.

The role requires strong leadership, deep nuclear QA knowledge, and experience with 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and 10 CFR Part 21. You'll interface with customers and regulators and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • A graduate of a four-year engineering program.
  • 7–10 years' experience in quality assurance related to the nuclear industry.
  • Management/Leadership experience and training.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong understanding of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and 10 CFR Part 21; ASME NQA-1 familiarity is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directs quality activities on a project/site, coordinating with engineering, project management, procurement, fabrication/construction, and other personnel to meet QA goals.
  • Develops a Project/Site Quality Plan detailing customer requirements for integration with the QA Program.
  • Prepares project/site quality procedures to meet Code, jurisdictional, customer and internal requirements.
  • Participates in Commercial Grade Dedication activities.
  • Trains quality personnel assigned to the project/site.
  • Liaises with customers, regulatory authorities, subcontractors and internal departments on quality matters.
  • Represents the site during quality audits by customers, regulators and internal audits.
  • Identifies quality problems, initiates non-conformance reports or corrective actions, and verifies dispositions.

What is the Opportunity?

Reporting to the Director, Quality, the Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for implementation of the project and/or site quality program/plan and site or project-specific procedures for an assigned project. The Quality Assurance Manager is also responsible for ensuring that the quality and associated documentation for fabricated or installed items meets Code, jurisdictional, customer and internal requirements.

Citizenship Requirement:

This position requires access to nuclear facilities and information governed by U.S. federal regulations. As a result, applicants must be U.S. citizens to meet eligibility and security clearance requirements.

What You’ll Do Here:
  • Directs quality activities on a project and/or site, communicating with engineering, project management, procurement and fabrication/construction, and other project personnel to ensure QA goals and objectives are met.
  • Develops a Project/Site Quality Plan to cover all customer requirements to a level of detail necessary to assure integration within the Quality Assurance Program.
  • Prepares project/site quality-related procedures to meet Code, jurisdictional, customer and internal requirements.
  • Participate in Commercial Grade Dedication activities.
  • Trains quality personnel assigned to the project.
  • Liaise with customers, regulatory authorities, subcontractors and/or internal departments on matters related to quality.
  • Represents the project/site during quality audits conducted by the customer, regulatory agencies and internal audits.
  • Identifies quality problems, initiates non-conformance reports or corrective action requests and verifies implementation of dispositions.
  • Provides work assignments to project/site quality personnel and prepares reports on the effectiveness of the project quality assurance program.
  • Assists in ensuring satisfactory performance regarding the Aecon Nuclear Objectives.
  • Ensure quality activities regarding fabrication and installation are planned and controlled.
  • Supervision of all Quality Assurance and Quality Control personnel assigned to the project and/or site.
  • Maintain departmental costs within budget.
  • External stakeholder interface will involve meeting with customers, suppliers, jurisdictional authorities, unionized supervisors and employees of various disciplines.
  • Interface with Senior Management, Project and Shop Management.
What You Bring to the Team:
  • A graduate of a four-year engineering program from a recognized university or an equivalent combination of education, technical training and experience.
  • Minimum 7-10 years' experience in quality assurance related to the nuclear industry.
  • Management/Leadership experience and training.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Excellent understanding of the following codes and standards:
  • 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and 10 CFR Part 21.
  • AWS, AISC, ACI.
  • ASME NQA-1.
  • Previous working experience with 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and 10 CFR Part 21 would be an asset.
  • ASME NQA-1 Nuclear Lead Auditor Certification would be an asset.
Physical Demands
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Project Site Trailer Environment.
  • May be required to enter awkward locations to perform verification activities.
  • Due to the nature of work conducted by Aecon, mandated nuclear export controls requirements must be met for employment.
