Job summary

Northrop Grumman Corp. in Elkridge, MD seeks a dynamic Manager Quality 1 to lead a 10-15 person team, drive injury reduction, and ensure regulatory and ISO/LEAN compliance. This role shapes quality across Space programs and requires strong leadership.

You will collaborate with engineering, program management, and Labor Relations while developing, auditing, and standardizing inspection processes, data-driven decisions, and corrective actions to sustain top-tier quality metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years in manufacturing and/or quality.
  • Master’s Degree with 3+ years in manufacturing and/or quality.
  • Associate’s Degree with 7+ years in manufacturing and/or quality.
  • 9 years of manufacturing and/or quality experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

  • Manage 10-15 represented employees and meet monthly delivery objectives per Space programs.
  • Lead continuous improvement or lean projects in own area or across areas.
  • Lead cross-functional, high-performing teams and mentor direct reports.
  • Interface with engineering and program during early production phases.

This role supports one of our highest‑visibility manufacturing sites and is critical to driving injury reduction, regulatory compliance excellence, and a strong EHS culture.What You’ll Get To Do:Managing approximately 10-15 represented (union) employees.Responsible for driving the team to achieve monthly delivery objectives per Space programs with the cell.Ability to lead continuous improvement or lean projects in own area or across areas.Leading cross-functional, high-performing teams and mentoring direct reports.Manager requires higher level understanding and have the ability to effectively give direction when related to inspection, process assessments, and other relatable actions.Executing major programs in early phases of production that requires additional ability to interface with engineering and program.Supporting ISO, LEAN, and Quality initiatives.Ability to document and standardize task and efforts.Managing represented employees and interacting with Labor Relations.Working to company policy, business conduct and standards.Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.Audit quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.Proven ability to communicate clearly, deliver effective presentations, and analyze data to support decision-making.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 5 years of manufacturing and/or quality experience; OR a Master’s Degree with 3 years of manufacturing and/or quality experience; OR an Associate’s Degree with 7 years of manufacturing and/or quality experience; OR 9 years of manufacturing and/or quality experience may be accepted in lieu of degreeThe ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret ClearanceUS citizenship requiredPreferred Qualifications:BS in business, engineering, or other STEM area9 years or more of experience in a DOD manufacturing environment2 years or more of experience in management or leadership of people and/or processes in a Manufacturing or Production environmentStrong manufacturing/production backgroundExperience working in a union environmentExperience with SAP/MESPrimary Level Salary Range: $105,000.00 - $157,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
