Job summary

  • Utilizes Microsoft Office Suite effectively for documentation, presentations, and data analysis.
  • Develops and maintains project schedules, monitoring progress against established timelines.
  • Creates and organizes project documentation, including meeting minutes, status reports, and project artifacts.
  • Engages in team collaboration, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
  • Identifies potential project risks and assists in developing mitigation strategies.
  • Supports stakeholder management efforts by gathering requirements and communicating project status.
  • Applies problem‑solving skills to address challenges and optimize project workflows.

This role offers a unique opportunity for transitioning service members to gain hands‑on experience in project management. As a Project Management SkillBridge Trainee, you immerse yourself in the lifecycle of diverse projects, contributing to their successful execution from initiation to completion. You learn foundational project management methodologies and apply your skills in a dynamic, supportive environment. This position provides a critical bridge from military service to a civilian career, developing your expertise and preparing you for future leadership roles within our organization. You contribute directly to team success and organizational goals by ensuring projects stay on track and meet objectives.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Project Management SkillBridge Trainee actively supports project teams and contributes to various project phases. You learn and apply best practices under the guidance of experienced project managers.

  • Knowledge/Skills
    • Project Planning: Basic understanding of project phases and objectives.
    • Task Management: Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
    • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Microsoft Office Suite: Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
    • Scheduling: Familiarity with creating and managing basic timelines.
    • Documentation: Attention to detail in preparing and maintaining records.
    • Team Collaboration: Works effectively within a team setting.
    • Risk Management: Eagerness to learn and identify potential project challenges.
    • Stakeholder Management: Basic understanding of engaging with different project parties.

  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Business, Management, IT).
    • Prior experience in a project support role or coordinating activities.
    • Basic knowledge of project management software (e.g., Jira, Asana, Trello).
    • Relevant military occupational specialty (MOS) or rating.
  • Physical Requirements/Work Conditions
    • Works primarily in an office or remote setting, utilizing standard office equipment.
    • Sits or stands for extended periods while performing computer-based tasks.
    • Communicates effectively in person, over the phone, and via virtual platforms.

Summary

DOW's Project Management SkillBridge Program provides transitioning service members with structured, hands‑on training in project management within a global manufacturing and materials science organization. Participants will gain practical experience supporting cross‑functional business initiatives while developing project planning, coordination, communication, risk management, and stakeholder engagement skills.

This program is designed to prepare participants for civilian careers in project management across manufacturing, engineering, operations, supply chain, information technology, and corporate functions.
