Caterpillar is seeking a 2nd shift Production Manager for Bevel Gears in East Peoria, IL. You will lead a team of machine operators (up to 25+) to drive safety, quality, and on-time production in a dynamic environment.

The role requires organizing daily workflows, deploying Lean and Six Sigma, and ensuring adherence to schedules. Onsite, 5 days per week, with prospects for overtime to meet customer commitments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills desired.
• Experience leading hourly direct reports in a manufacturing setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and improve shop floor safety and eliminate unsafe processes.
• Ensure fixtures, tooling and processes meet production schedules.
• Prioritize and sequence jobs, scheduling constrained resources.
• Lead staffing, train and develop team members for performance.
• Drive Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement programs.
• Oversee maintenance scheduling and preventive maintenance activities.
• Deploy value stream improvements and CPS guiding principles.
• Lead root cause corrective action projects and audits of section metrics.
• Create and train standard work procedures and work instructions.

Role Definition

Caterpillar's Integrated Drivetrain Energy Solutions (IDES) division is looking for an organized self-starter to join our team as a 2nd shift Production Manager for Bevel Gears at building KK, in East Peoria, IL. As a production manager, you will be leading a group of machine operators to drive improvement in a very dynamic and exciting work environment. You will have up to 25+ direct report team members.

What you will do

• Monitor and improve shop floor safety, aggressively eliminating unsafe processes
• Assures fixtures, tooling and processes are followed to meet production schedules
• Determines priorities and sequences jobs
• Schedules and prioritizes constrained resources, and adjusts staff to meet flow and customer requirements
• Determines and executes disciplinary action when appropriate
• Ensures production material is procured and distributed to meet production schedules
• Increases production efficiency through continuous improvement and waste elimination utilizing LEAN principles
• Ensures preventive maintenance is performed according to schedule
• Implements, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, Internal Certification, and others
• Evaluates, assess, identifies, and leads the deployment of workforce training
• Actively deploys value stream improvements
• Practices and teaches CPS Guiding Principles
• Initiates and conducts process improvement dialogs with Team Leads and Team Members
• Drives root cause corrective action projects and continuous improvement
• Leads section status reporting and monitors / audits section metrics
• Leads the creation, implementation, and training of standard work procedures

Degree Requirement

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience desired.

What Skills You Will Have

• Performance Management: Ability to coach, develop, and hold individuals and teams accountable for performance expectations and improvement plans

• Prior leadership experience
• Strong customer focus and ability to influence and lead hourly direct reports
• Proficiency with Microsoft office 365
• Ability to work with a diverse group of employees and customers
• Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Previous manufacturing or heat treat operations experience
• Experience with Lean manufacturing
• Project management skills
• Ability to analyze and interpret various types of data to make informed decisions

Additional Information

• This position will close at 11:59 p.m. on 10/24/2026.
• This position will be located onsite 5 days a week in East Peoria, IL (Building KK) working 2nd shift (2:30PM to 10:30PM).
• This position requires flexibility to work overtime, including daily and weekend hours, as needed to support production schedules, customer commitments, and business requirements.

Summary Pay Range:

$89,210.00 - $133,810.00
