Sunbelt Modular, Inc. is seeking a Production Manager in Marysville, WA, to lead production of modular buildings. You will plan, schedule, and direct daily activities to ensure on-time completion, quality, and budget adherence.

This role requires coordinating across departments, managing subcontractors, and driving cost efficiencies while maintaining safety standards. You will lead a team, develop training, monitor performance, and enforce standard building methods in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Five years of experience in production/manufacturing/construction environments.
  • Two years of supervisory experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building systems.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA requirements and workplace safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and schedules production activities, maintains the production flow, and distributes the schedule to staff to meet commitments on each building.
  • Directs daily department activities and coordinates schedules, including shifting personnel or supervising subcontractor work when needed.
  • Coordinates with other departments, verifies prints, and assesses how delays affect completion and shipment; communicates foreseen delays.
  • Develops budgets for tools, supplies, and labor and seeks cost-effective quality tools and supplies.
  • Trains production personnel and develops training procedures to improve performance.
  • Evaluates department performance and implements improvements.
  • Maintains clean, orderly work areas and monitors cleanup efforts.
  • Develops departmental policies and procedures, including standard building methods.

Description

Position Objective

The Production Manager is responsible for producing the buildings scheduled for production and completing those buildings on time, at acceptable quality levels, and within budget.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Plans and schedules production activities. Maintains the production flow chart, tracks production progress, and distributes the schedule to staff, making sure the schedule meets all the commitments on each building.
  • Directs the daily activities of the department. Coordinates the daily department schedules taking into consideration the difficulty of the building. This may require moving people to help in other areas. Also, schedules subcontractor work.
  • Coordinates production activities with other departments. Verifies that prints are available for the day’s schedule and for review. Determines how delayed material will affect the completion and shipment of the building. Informs the appropriate parties of any foreseen delays.
  • Develops budgets on tools, supplies, and labor, continually trying to reduce costs. This includes tracking the abuse of tools and implementing the use of more cost-effective quality tools and supplies.
  • Trains production personnel for improved performance and growth opportunities. Develops training procedures to assure the proper training is available to each employee.
  • Evaluates departmental performance. Determines areas that need improvement and makes the necessary changes.
  • Maintains clean and orderly work areas. Monitors the performance of each department’s clean-up efforts through inspection.
  • Develops departmental policies and procedures, which include standard building methods.

Requirements
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a production/manufacturing/construction environment
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience
  • Thorough knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building systems
  • Strong understanding of OSHA requirements and workplace safety standards
Job Requirements
  • Able to successfully pass a criminal background check (following a conditional offer of employment)
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods while overseeing production operations, perform frequent hand and arm movements for documentation and equipment interaction, maintain visual attention to processes and details, and occasionally lift or move materials up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise and varying temperatures and humidity
  • May require extended hours or Saturdays to meet production requirements
