Job summary

Johnson & Johnson's DePuy Synthes seeks a Manager, Product Group Engineering in Raynham, MA or West Chester, PA or Palm Beach Gardens, FL or Warsaw, IN or Raritan, NJ. You will lead a team of engineers responsible for the design, development, integration, and lifecycle management of digital and technology solutions.

You will collaborate with R&D, Quality, Regulatory and IT to deliver scalable, compliant solutions, driving delivery, budgets, and people management in a regulated medical device

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, or related technical discipline.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 6-8 years of progressive experience in software, systems, or product engineering in regulated environments.
• Experience translating requirements into technical solutions within cross-functional teams.
• Budget, timeline, and priority management in a matrixed organization.

Job Overview

The Manager, Product Group Engineering leads a team of technology and product engineers responsible for the design, development, integration, and lifecycle management of digital and technology solutions supporting DePuy Synthes R&D and product platforms. This role partners closely with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, and Business stakeholders to deliver scalable, compliant, and high‑impact technology solutions that enable innovation, speed to market, and operational excellence. This is a people‑leader role with both technical depth and strong cross‑functional influence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of product group engineers responsible for delivering technology solutions across R&D and product platforms, ensuring alignment to business and technology strategies.
• Own the end‑to‑end engineering lifecycle, including requirements definition, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support of product‑aligned technology solutions.
• Partner with Product Management, R&D, Quality, Regulatory, and IT stakeholders to translate business and scientific needs into scalable, secure, and compliant technical solutions.
• Ensure engineering practices adhere to applicable regulatory, quality, cybersecurity, and data privacy requirements relevant to medical technology and R&D environments.
• Drive engineering excellence through standardized processes, design reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage delivery commitments, resource planning, budgets, and vendor relationships to meet timelines, cost, and quality objectives.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and performance management to team members, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
• Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes to leadership, and proactively escalat… issues that may impact delivery or compliance.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor's degree required in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
• Master's degree preferred.

Experience and Skills

Required:

• 6-8 years of progressive experience in software, systems, or product engineering within regulated or complex technology environments.
• Hands‑on experience with modern software development practices, system integration, and product lifecycle management technologies.
• Working knowledge of SDLC, agile and/or hybrid delivery models, and engineering quality controls.
• Demonstrated ability to translate business and R&D requirements into technical solutions that deliver measurable value.
• Experience managing budgets, timelines, and competing priorities in a matrixed organization.
• Proven people‑management experience, including coaching, performance management, and team development.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence without authority and drive alignment across functions.

Preferred:

• Experience supporting R&D, product development, or medical device technology platforms.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, data platforms, and enterprise integration patterns.
• Experience working in a regulated industry (medical devices, life sciences, or healthcare).
• Ability to balance innovation with compliance, risk management, and operational stability.
• Experience leading through change and driving adoption of new technologies or processes.
• Demonstrated commitment to inclusive leadership and building diverse, high‑performing teams.
