Job summary

Finance of America Reverse in the United States seeks an experienced operations leader to oversee the In House Processing Team, ensuring timely, compliant loan processing from submission through funding.

You will coach staff, drive data integrity, and partner with underwriting and account management to optimize workflows and improve service quality. A track record in mortgage banking and supervisory roles is required.

Qualifications

  • Five to seven years of mortgage banking or mortgage lending experience.
  • Prior management and supervisory experience is required.
  • Familiarity with automated Loan Origination Systems and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the In House Processing Team to ensure smooth, timely operations.
  • Maintain data integrity across loan origination systems and processes.
  • Coach and train staff on handling difficult client scenarios.
  • Collaborate with Underwriting and other teams to optimize workflows.

Ensures that new mortgage loan packages are processed and completed according to established policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Responsible for maintaining a high standard of customer service within each pre-funding operations department within the Company and ensuring an observable sense of urgency is displayed by all team members under direct supervision
  • Responsible for ensuring the integrity of all data entered into the Company’s operating systems
  • Assists with any service related issues and provide appropriate coaching and training to team on how to handle and respond to difficult situations and/or clients.
  • Actively manages day-to-day activities of the In House Processing Team to understand the needs and maintain smooth, timely and efficient processes.
  • Identifies and resolves issues that arise and are consistent with normal daily operations of the In House Processing Department.
  • Works with Underwriting Team Leads to minimize workload on the leads and individual underwriters by answering questions, brainstorming solutions, providing continuous training, and maintaining efficient processes for both teams.
  • Understands and comprehends the overall plan for the company and the department and set specific goals for employees that will be suitable with the overall plan and are clear to the individual leads and teammates.

  • Regularly checks in and conducts team meetings to communicate the goals of the department in a positive manner to facilitate good team morale.
  • Proactively identifies and communicates personnel requirements and issues to the Vice President of Operations to ensure fully staffed and effective team.
  • Participates in the hiring and disciplinary process of direct reports.
  • Continuously monitors internal processes to find ways to improve efficiency and tweak processes and procedures to keep Finance of America Reverse ahead of the competition.
  • Responsible for maintaining quality standards in accordance with Company requirements
  • Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, mentoring, coaching and developing direct reports
  • Overall responsibility for the performance of staff within each of the operations departments
  • Oversees customer relationships with internal staff and mitigate employee turnover by maintaining positive and productive communications and customer relationships
  • Ensures the loan process operates efficiently and effectively and timely while maintaining company service and quality standards from loan submission, underwriting, processing, document drawing and funding and closing
  • Monitors and evaluates direct report team and provide performance management and feedback, coaching, counseling and remediation as required
  • Responsible for maximizing the productivity within the group by recommending changes to process and/or systems to gain efficiencies
  • Develops and implements strategies and tactics to refine the process to support corporate growth and goals
  • Identifies strategic opportunities to enhance system and process through utilization/optimization of technology
  • Implements, interprets and administers company policies, performance expectations and procedures to provide consistency throughout the loan origination process
  • Maintains clear and consistent line of communication between direct reports, production, underwriting, account management, documents, funding and management team
  • Manages pipeline assignment and distribution of workflow to insure adherence to acceptable turn time benchmarks and standards set by the Company
  • Ensures all mandated and required procedures are applied to pipeline loans being cancelled or denied
  • Remains current on company requirements/federal and state regulations to ensure compliance
  • May be required from time to time to perform data entry tasks into loan origination system and to process loan files to maintain company standards relative to benchmarks, turn times and goals this includes covering processors pipelines whenever any are out of office.
  • May be required to participate in various departmental, senior management meetings, etc. on an as needed basis
  • Maintains regular meetings within the department and with your direct supervisor to ensure proper communication of goals, turn times and performance standards

  • At least five to seven years of experience in mortgage banking or mortgage lending
  • Prior Management and/or Supervisory Experience Required
  • Prior experience working with automated Loan Origination Systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Current knowledge of industry guidelines and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations
  • Knowledge of mortgage banking

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is ($120,000 - $145,400) inclusive of all geographical differences in the labor market. The base salary for the position will be determined based on factors such as the candidate’s work location, skills, education, and experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members in determining any final offer. We offer a competitive benefits package including health, dental, vision, life insurance, paid time-off benefits, flexible spending account, 401(k) with employer match, and ESPP.
