Job summary

Encore Medical LP is seeking a Manager of Process Engineering in Austin, Texas. You will lead a team to design and develop manufacturing processes for innovative orthopedic products while ensuring efficient design transfer to production.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in process engineering, managing teams, and applying DFM principles. This role requires strong leadership skills and a focus on continuous improvement and lean methodologies.

Applicants must have full-time work authorization in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, BSME, or related Engineering degree.
  • At least 10 years of experience in process or manufacturing engineering.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing an engineering team.
  • Experience with Measurement Systems (CMM, Vision Inspection, Profilometers).
  • Experience with GD&T and data analysis tools.

Business Unit

NPI Manufacturing Engineering group – Enovis Surgical focuses on orthopedic joint replacements with innovative products such as EMPOWR3DKnee and AltiVateReverseShoulder.

Overview

As a Process Engineering Manager NPI you will lead a team that designs and develops new and/or improved manufacturing processes and ensures efficient and effective design transfer of product into production. You will act as a player‑coach, guide cross‑functional teams, innovate processes, manage CAPA, project management, quality systems, and provide design for manufacturability input.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of NPI Manufacturing Engineers and technicians responsible for launching new products.
  • Serve as the primary process and manufacturing expert on cross‑functional new product introduction teams.
  • Guide teams to assess process capabilities, prioritize process improvement opportunities, and implement process improvements on new development projects.
  • Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design, and develop processes, procedures, tooling and/or automation.
  • Execute functional deliverables associated with CAPA, Project Management, and Quality Systems (e.g., BOMs, Routers, FMAs).
  • Write and review validation protocols and reports for new processes.
  • Oversee development builds associated with the project using technical work requests.
  • Provide Design for Manufacturability input to the engineering print package.
  • Convey process and manufacturing limits and capabilities to the development team.
  • Contribute ideas to or generate Intellectual Property submissions.
  • Train manufacturing personnel when required as part of a validation.
  • Participate in lean reviews and Kaizen events.
  • Coach Engineers and Technicians.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, BSME, or a related Engineering degree.
  • At least 10 years of experience in process or manufacturing engineering.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing an engineering team.
  • Experience with Measurement Systems (CMM, Vision Inspection, Profilometers).
  • Experience with GD&T and data analysis tools such as Minitab.
Desired Characteristics
  • Experience in medical device manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Lean Manufacturing, Process Control Concepts, Design of Experiments (DOE), Process Validation and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Familiarity with problem‑solving and process improvement methodologies (6‑Sigma, DMAIC).
  • Experience with CAD software SolidWorks, MasterCAM.
  • Master’s degree in engineering or related fields or experience in metals/plastics machining/additive manufacturing.
