Job summary

Gates Corporation in Colorado is seeking a Process Engineering Manager to lead process development and optimization across facilities. You will coach a team to design experiments, scale processes for new products, and support operations and business development.

Job description

Position Summary

The Process Engineering Manager develops, evaluates and implements new and existing process technologies at various Gates Corporation facilities to support engineering and local factory operations. This role leads a team in designing and executing experiments to characterize and optimize manufacturing processes in power transmission and fluid power segments, develops and scales processes for initial‑stage products, and provides technical support for manufacturing operations and business development. The position is a leadership role responsible for developing and coaching direct team members, fostering a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and advancing group goals to meet company objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead the transfer, adaptation, and optimization of manufacturing processes across Gates Corporation facilities, ensuring equivalent performance outcomes while accounting for variations in equipment, materials, and site‑specific constraints.
  • Execute experiments and trials, ensuring proper documentation of process standards, SOPs, and work instructions.
  • Work closely with Product Development, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the process engineering team.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Adhere to Gates code of conduct and ethics, setting an example for personal character and work habits.
  • Maintain and improve the 6‑S standards in the assigned area.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE standards in the work area, reporting unsafe practices or conditions to the safety committee.
  • Ensure vendors have good HSE practices, comply with statutory requirements, and do not employ child labor.
Requirements and Preferred Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a similar industry (highly desirable).
  • Prior leadership or managerial experience preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to support global teams.
  • Approximately 25% travel required.

  • Proficiency in determining necessary processes, organizing people and activities, measuring performance, identifying synergy opportunities, simplifying complex processes, and optimizing resources.
  • Capability to lead large‑scale project work using project management tools.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures, including advanced manufacturing techniques, quality procedures, and information systems.
  • Familiarity with processes that manufacture hydraulics and power transmission products.
  • Experience in strategic planning processes, including developing and implementing manufacturing footprint programs.
Pay & Benefits
  • Full‑Time
  • Salary: $135,000–$150,000
  • Bonus Eligible: 10%
  • Medical, Dental, Vision insurance and other voluntary benefits begin on the first day of the month following hire.
  • Eligible for 3 weeks of paid vacation + 11 holidays (9 scheduled & 2 floating) + 8 sick days (all accrued).
  • 401(k): 3% company contribution and additional 3% company match.
